Drone crash - investigation

Are you even reading the official CAA guidance?
Yes. Let's look at the page you linked.

It's not a toy. A drone with a 4k camera is not a toy.

If it doesn't have a class mark then this applies:
below 250g - not a toy - with camera No Yes

If it's a class 0
C0 - not a toy - with camera No Yes

The bold 'Yes' are for Operator ID.

If an Operator ID is needed then the drone must be labelled accordingly (that's not mentioned on the CAA page). Note, I've not said the drone has to be registered anywhere, just that the appropriate ID is needed and the drone must be labelled.

Any other classes need both a Flyer and Operator ID.

Had a similar experience with my first DJI Mavic Mini. Brand new, just fell out of the sky from about 10 meters up and smashed the gimbal. No warning, zero wind.
DJI would not entertain anything, bar me claiming on DJI refresh.
Replacement has been rock solid, so guess it was a faulty drone.

Nothing there saying you will be. It's saying you could be and i'll await your source showing that anyone has been.

I'll take my legal advice from a legal professional, not a web-based 'journalist'.

Regardless of whether you could be prosecuted for "endangering an aircraft", you would certainly be guilty of criminal damage
