I currently have the Dell S2409W 24" (1920x1080).

I'm currently looking for a new 120Hz monitor since I play a lot of FPS's/Games and was wondering I bought the Samsung SM2233RZ 22" 120Hz 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor would I notice a big disadvantage/downgrade?

Graphics card I have got is the Gigabyte GTX460 1GB - 800/1600.

I ideally don't want to spend no more than £180-200 if you have any better recommendations?

Thanks.

Well the Samsung is slightly smaller (22in 16:10) than the dell (24in 16:9), but due to the aspect ratio difference the actual viewable area isn't that much less (~12%)- have a look here.

The Samsung is a very nice bit of kit - input lag is non existant, responsiveness is among the very best and 120Hz makes it excellent for playing fast-paced games on. The slightly lower resolution will mean you can hit higher framerates, which will be useful since the monitor refreshes at 120Hz (and can hence display up to 120FPS to the user) instead of 60Hz on standard panels.

One good alternative I would suggest are the LG W2363D, which is a 1080p 23in 120Hz monitor. It isn't quite as responsive as the Samsung, but still very nice. On the other hand, the ASUS ML239H offers a 23in 1080p panel, but instead of 120Hz this monitors big feature is the usage of a high quality E-IPS panel (the monitors mentioned above use TN panels). This isn't quite as good as the above 120Hz monitors for pure gaming (due to inferior response time and input lag) however it still plays games very well while also offering better colour accuracy and viewing angles. Here is an in-depth review which covers the image quality as well as the gaming suitability, based on that review the ASUS handles games just as well (if not slightly better) as the well-liked Dell U2311H.

Hi, thanks for the detailed reply. I think I may invest in the Samsung as I still prefer the 16:10 ratio when gaming - although it may all seem placebo?
