I never stated it wasn't but saying AMD cards heat up your room more than nvidia is nonsense from bhavv.

If a card is using more watts that energy will end up as heat so yes a HD 7970 will heat your room more than a GTX 680.

Apparently we are in for a cold winter - whats the best HD 7970 for a Quad fire setup ?

That's complete rubbish as the card could be watercooled or have a better air cooler. 30 more watts is unlikely to make the difference bhavv said it would.

It would be breaking the fundamental laws of physics regardless of how it was cooled if it didn't heat the room more...

It does not matter what cooler you use all energy ends up as heat. The extra 30 watts will not make a huge difference but it will be a difference.

Bhavv was implying it'd be a large difference, enough to notice.

Of course a card using more power will kick out more heat, but whether it's actually noticable is a very different matter.

Also, core temperate doesn't indicate how much heat's being given off either.

Agreed

If you could measure it the difference in room temp would be tiny like a tenth of a degree.

I have also read Bhavv's post where he states that his GTX 670 plus i7 980 does not heat up his room at all. This can not be correct either unless he is using air conditioning or open windows/doors or what ever to remove the heat produced.

I know only too well how much heat an i7 980 can produce I have got one paired up with 4 Fermi GPUs (2 x GTX 590s).:D
 
Seems completely insane to me to place so much enforces on 20w or 30w.

Laws of physics may well dictate it will add warmth to the room.

Laws of Physics also dictate a spec of dust has a gravitational pull, i notice that about as much as i notice to warmth my card is adding to my room.

You would be surprised how much 30W would impact a small bedroom.

Bodyheat makes a big difference and that's only about 100W.

I don't buy it, it's completely surreal to me.

My Mobile Phone generates about 30w, i don't feel it warming up the room.

Does a mobile phone really use 30watts of energy, that is quite scary. Sayinh that my iphone does get warm if I make a long call.

I would buy it if I was you, it is all dependant on room volume, ventilation, percieved comfort factor to the body e.g. clothes warn!
