Not too late at all. I've made 1 comment on something which has been discussed over and over again.
Not necessarily no. i never said that.
It depends on a bunch of things, AMD's Drivers do improve with each generation, sometimes a lot, While Nvidia's Drivers already seem to be well optimised and stand still.
Add to that not every card is exactly the same, a reference 7970 has a poor PCB compared with a highly customised one like the one on that Asus.
My Gigabyte and MSI 7870's also seem to perform slightly better (~5%) than an entry level Sapphire and HIS 7870's with Reference PCB's, for example. That is purely my own observations and could be challenged.
It also depends on what part of BF3 is benched, different SP levels can suit different cards differently.
On this particular review, with these particular Drivers (12.8) on this particular GPU (which is an exceptional 7970) i believe the numbers are right.
Overall i believe an average 7970 is just as fast as an average GTX 680 once in the owners rig and set up; in BF3 with both on the latest drivers.
No one is faster than the other.

nVidia drivers hardly stand still, lots of performance enchancements and new features from release to release usually.

Back to prices, I am no fan of either AMD or NVidia. I would like a new graphics card, but not desperate. I am waiting to see if I can get either a 660ti or a 7950, including delivery, for £200. A 15% decrease in the cards prices should see me at that, so it's a waiting game for me. Im not going to line the pockets of either of the two. At least these forums will help cut delivery costs, but not for a few months.
I fully expect the 8000 series cards to be available before the 7950 hits £200 or less.
There doesn't seem to be any need for either side to lower prices at the moment, and it's been years since we had a proper price war. They probably an "understanding" not to do that again

I think you're right. But there is room for the 660ti to be there. It's wishful thinking on the part of the 7950 which I would prefer, but flash sales do come along.

The problem with all reviews is you can pick drivers, better or worse performing GPU's benches on specific game levels / parts to make one or the other look better than another.
All of them should be taken with lashings of salt, and i do mean all of them. Including the one i posted.
Having said that the person who did that review uses exactly the same benches for all cards for all games, including when he's showing off an Nvidia card in a review, and those reviews never follow any NDA.

Its not exactly the most professional or comprehensive I have seen
I think my favorite bit is where he is talking about a stable 24/7 overclock and then goes and spoils it by saying he had to reduce this a bit to run one of the benchmarks.

That's not at all the point he is making in his post. That review is awful no matter which card came out on top.
