Also could have a bad CPU mount to start with.So I always knew having top mount could give a few more °C's on CPU. Disclaimer for that guy blah blah who will rush in and only have bad things to say.

Anyway tossed in RTX 3080 and notice while PC gaming temperature were hitting 80°C in some PC games, where Cinebench20 Multi was only hitting 68°C-70°C. I was puzzled but did not really care. Then I must have fell down and hit my head or something, it dawned on me that I have a top mount on my cheap AIO.

I also have a Nvidia Haf X case that is 10+ years old and no such thing of front mount on that thing. So I ghetto up a bracket and front mount ghetto my 240MM AIO and what ya know ,15 °C difference in the PC game after 15 Minutes and the best part temperatures were in the 50°C -60°C 99% of the time.

So just maybe a hint for some people with higher than normal CPU's temperatures,if you wanna try.Hey might drop a couple °C

My cheap MasterLiquid Lite ML240L RGB AIO

Top Mount

CPU - 78.5°C
Chipset - 56.5°C
GPU - 58°C

Front Mount

CPU - 63.3°C Dropped 15°C
Chipset - 59.5°C Raised 3°C
GPU - 60°C Raised 2°C

Top Mount Temperatures

Front Mount Temperatures

Want a laugh ghetto bracket

3600xt@ 4600Mhz 1.325v but my 3800X was around the same as the front mount @4600Mhz even with RTX 2080 top mount, same crap case. I really only noticed a difference since RTX 3080 when AIO was top mounted. It is only 100watt more but made a difference in PC gaming.

You're running your 3600 at 4.6 all the time? or is that just the boost clock?
That 4600Mhz is an all core overclock that is stable. Sometimes I run 4500Mhz all core, sometimes I run with EDC tweak/bug to get 4750Mhz boost.I am flexible

It looks like you have the rad vertical with barbs higher than the pump. This could degrade your pump in the future as the liquid levels drop, so keep an eye on the temperatures over time and listen out for pump noise.
Thanks for the tip,I will keep an eye on it.It is a £25 AIO and I change my CPU all the time, not really worried about it.

You could do with giving your PC a good cleanup too, it looks filthy.
Thanks Ma :D ,it is filthy . You know it is a computer that sits on the floor in a closed case,it is ok to have dust.

Did you notice any change in the GPU temp? I guess that would be the potential trade off, that the GPU gets a little hotter.
Top Mount

CPU - 78.5°C
Chipset - 56.5°C
GPU - 58°C

Front Mount

CPU - 63.3°C Dropped 15°C
Chipset - 59.5°C Raised 3°C
GPU - 60°C Raised 2°C

I am making a custom computer case that has air from outside directed to each GPU (there's two) and also another direct airpath onto the CPU. Will be interesting to see the temperatures I get. I am not using watercooling or AIO.
Sweet post pics when finished,I made a computer desk in my wall and never got around to embeding the computer parts into the wall, just left them in a case. Maybe I might finish the job now.

Daaaaaaaum a 4.6 all core on a 3600 is some going. Golden chip :D
No big deal it is a 3600XT 85% of them can do 4600Mhz I bet.

I've been wanting to move my AIO cooler to the front of my case for awhile now.
Sadly i own a Corsair 900D, in my infinite wisdom. I don't know any AIO cooler that could reach from the CPU socket to the front of the case without looking ridiculous.

I have looked into doing a customer water loop, but not that confident in doing so, I also don't really want to drop the extra cash on top of the new CPU upgrade from my 5960x.
Custom water loop is expensive and I always thought aboout it but seems like too much of a hassle for very little results for PC gaming, great if you just do benchmarks all day .

Not trying to be rude here,OK let me start by saying this ,it was not a problem ever temperature wise for me. Same case I used a RTX 2080 with AMD Ryzen 2600X/2x3600X/3800X/3600XT. After I put in 3 different RTX 3080 cards ,I just noticed and increase in CPU temperature.I was fine with increase in temperature.
So I made some changes and now the case fans run at lower RPM on same task and CPU temperatures are 15°C-16°C cooler from changing some stuff around. I am satisfied 100% with the changes and no need to do anything else, thanks for the tips but AMD Ryzen @ 4600Mhz only hitting 60°C PC gaming and say 70°C Cinebench20 multi is perfectly fine and needs no changes at all.I made the post for people who want to give this a try.

Yes I understand the risk, thanks for the tip. I am not worry about any risk at all,5 CPU's,4 sets of DDR4,a couple motherboards, maybe 20 SSD's ETC in less than 2 years. I just like playing games and buying useless crap that does not make a difference in PC gaming.

I googled the rad placement, this guy Bitwit only saw 10°C difference. So lets say 10°C and 5 °C for bad CPU mount. All equal anyway 12:13 of video he has the results.

Two questions,

What batch is the 3600
How did you buy three different 3080’s

The 3080 must have been saturating the case to see a 15c drop.
Do not know batch number cause I did not care.
Bought two RTX on Sept 17 2020 online, could have bought more.
Bought one at a store Sept 22 2020. I did not find it hard to buy a RTX 3080 in Canada.

Why would anyone need three 3080s? Also why would you be buying 5 different Ryzen CPUs over the course of 2- 3 years? Sorry, but I don't believe you.
Amazing how I turned into a liar for a post I was trying to help some people out.I forgot to add ,I also owned at least 5/6 GTX 1080ti/RTX 2080 and I may not buy anymore RTX 3080 because there all pretty much the same.I would love to show receipts for all the gear but that would be a pain in the behind. Also note I had a 3800X last month that could do 4700Mhz all core overclock and I replaced it with a 3600XT which will be replace by 5800X/5900X next month. Some people just by things,I hope that is enough proof for you.

So quick recap on the video i posted
4 Different CPU's shown
4 Different sets of ram used
3 Different GPU's used
Not sure how many different SSD's used in the videos
Same case and CPU cooler and I change from top monut to front mount and got better CPU temps

AMD 2600X with GTX 1080Ti

AMD 2600X with RTX 2080

AMD 3600X with RTX 2080

AMD 3800X with RTX 2080

AMD 3600XT with RTX 3080

I apologise if you are telling the truth, but if you make comments like "I could have easily bought more 3080s" and "they are easy to get in Canada" you have got to expect people to doubt you. If even Linus Tech Tips cannot get them (apart from on loan) then I find it hard to believe that you found it easy unless you cheated somehow. Linus tech tips are in Canada.
LOL now your saying I cheated to get GPU ,that is just crazy talk. I did buy 2 online ,one in the morning MSI TrIO and one at night Zotac Trinity on sept 17 2020. Then I wanted a Asus Tuf so I went to the store on Sept 22 2020 7:30 at night ,So i am trying to trick some guys/gals on the internet who live in different content than me.No I just like my epeen thats all I guess.Screw the fan thing ,it was a trick so I could brag about some PC gear I bought.\

EDIT: I have to add on Sept 17 2020.I could have actually went to 5 stores within 30 minute drive, they all had stock.I stayed at home and bought some online. Now I have not check for RTX 3080 in a couple weeks but I am sure now it would be impossible to find anywhere.Just like Linus in Canada

This.

It's not a good idea to mount your radiator like this with the highest point being the barbs. If the pipes can reach put the barbs at the bottom.

So if the barbs are higher than the pump it is bad.I am so confused, top mount is also bad. Are you saying the opposite of how things should work n real life ,what is the secret to proper mount of AIO. Radiator below pump is that what your suggesting

That's an incredible temperature reduction.
I had something similar before i bought my Lian Li case where I had top mounts, and reduced by 10 degrees or so by drawing in air from the back compartment (You can back mount on Lian Li). Not surprising.

As that's such a good gain, which thermal compound did you use out of interest?

Congrats on the multi-3080's :)
Oh it was just some cheap DEEPCOOL G40 High Performance Thermal Compound.
Trying to sell the last RTX 3080 for a couple bucks more than I paid and grab AMD GPU in the coming weeks if it is better of course.

What on earth are you on about? You were wrong for insuating he was a liar and now you got that wrong you are trying to make up some other area where you can demonise him!

"Insensitive"! He was just stating what his experience was. If you want to get out the Kleenex to soak up your tears of upset and envy then by all means do so but don't start making out that he is being somehow inconsiderate for not taking your apparently extremely fragile disposition into account.
I agree 100%.

I always buy PC gear ,test it out and keep what I want. For RTX 3080 your saying I should only buy 1 of them and I can not sell something I bought. If I can get more than what I paid,i will do that all day long. The UK is not a communist regime and is supposed to be free. That mean you can buy anything at anytime. Dude you called me a liar then cheat and then insensitive about your feelings and now your saying what I can buy and sell. Please put me on ignore, your are not making any sense at all. There something not right here.
