Dropped my monitor :/ What to do

Contacted Direct line, It is covered and i have a £50 excess to pay as it seems i put a low one on the policy.

They said i may have to pay slightly more next year but i dont mind because it will be far less than forking out £800

I have to wait for someone to come and inspect the damage and then they will sort me out a new one

I am a happy chap now.

The same thing happened to me when I managed to let my 2407wfp fall off a table :( I only had a £50 excess as well, it took a few weeks to sort out and they initially were looking at repairing it but haha good luck finding a panel like that so they replaced it with a 2408wfp :)

Do people saying "hefty excess" even know anything about house insurance?

Typically the excess on an accidental damage claim is actually pretty low. Mine is £25.

Also you will probably find that you are covered on this even if you did not take out the extended accidental damage option on your policy, as most policies cover electrical items as standard for accidental damage, unless you took out one of the £150 a year policies from a random unknown company using compare the meerkats.

My cover is 360 odd so not cheap lol
Well it's either that, or purchase a cheap £150 24" IPS/VA screen to keep you going for the time being.

Don't worry about blowing £800, most people on these forums spend thousands on a PC, yet they spend all night on the OcUK forums, now that's what you call wasting money.

Once you drop in the claim the insurance people will screen it for fraud, make sure you monitor their progress as a quick resolution is unheard of in the household claims area. It may fall by the wayside if you don't keep nagging them . Beware your no claims may take a tumble
