You tell me. All I can say is the number of times I've had to take avoiding action on idiots who haven't seen me in the Elise borders on ridiculous. With the lights on it rarely happens now. If people think it's daft then that's up to them - I couldn't care less if it stops some day dreaming fool pulling out in front again....

I can almost understand people missing something like an Elise, trouble is, as I've already said earlier, I have trouble with people not seeing my 53ft 14ft 11 high HGV!
It must be a real pain in something as low as an Elise!!!

Why oh why do people insist on driving during the day with their lights on?
Unless you are in a Volvo, I can see no reason why people drive with their lights, on Friday at 1pm I saw some ditzy bird in a 57 plate Touareg with her lights on, followed by a fool in a 08 plate C class with his lights on.
I just don't understand
Had to get this off my chest.
I drive with my sidelights on a lot of the time purely because my dash is pretty shocking and very dim, so sticking the sidelights on allows me to just glance at the dials instead of giving them a good stare.

Saw this when i went to Canada, everyone had lights on in the day.
Doesn't really bother me unless they're driving around with main beams on or foglights in clear conditions.
I do drive with sidelights on in the day, when in the RX7 though, as the rad fans run at a higher speed with lights/aircon on and the rex needs all the cooling it can get!

My understanding is that it is a legal requirement over there. When I asked why I was told that an experiment in Alberta had shown that when everyone was forced to drive with lights on during the day there was a significant (and statistically-relevant) decrease in the number of accidents. Hence the legislation.
I only have this on hear-say, but I can see why it might be the case.
Dipped headlights I never have a problem with, whether it be daylight or not. If dipped headlights are dazzling or distracting you, then there is something wrong. I personally tend to use them once it starts to get a bit darker outside, or if its a bit overcast etc and don't bother with them when its bright out. But I can't see how anyone can complain about people driving with dipped headlights at any time. I'd far prefer that people HAD to use them at all times, rather than putting up with idiots who think that side-lights, or no lights, will suffice in thick fog, and/or torrential rain.
In fact, don't get me started on side-lights. I wish they'd do away with them. The amount of idiots that think sidelights are of any use in poor weather conditions is frankly appalling. They'd be better off driving with the interior light on half the time
I'd have no problem with all cars using dipped headlights at all times and having the only other options as main-beam and fog lights. Not that some drivers know how to use either of those properly either, but at least it would be an improvement

I say that, people still pull out in front of me, I couldnt stop for some stupid **** the other day, just managed to swerve out the way.
He then turned round and had a go at me when i stopped for a delivery, ranting and raving and calling me all the names under the sun (from inside his 4x4 i might add, not quite brave enough to get out) for daring to drive on the right side of the road under the speed limit.
Silly man, he was all red and everything.
