Yea we get shafted in the UK, with a warranty the x3 the cost vs a remap would be worth it.

Think you two guys are arguing different things.
My understanding is AUDI warranty is void, but that you get an ABT warranty for the areas that would void your UK warranty.
The costs (for the tuning at ABT) for a car still under warranty are higher than for one that is outside the AUDI warranty period, at least was when I looked a few months ago

Where have you read this? I can't find anything on Abt's website about warranty being offered in the UK, whether it's replacement of manufacturer or that manufacturer isn't void or any other combination but maybe I just can't see the wood for the trees

The only thing I can find about warranty in the UK for ABT is this thread but it's old.

This is the interesting part:

The huge advantage is that is untraceable via the new Audi diagnostic tool as it is a totally separate engine control unit with a different address.

The cost is around £1975 inc vat and includes a full NSA Warranty package.

The NSA is through a Swiss based insurance company, (National Swiss) this will cover you for circa £5000 of liability (at current exchange rates) this does carry a small excess but does also include things like hire car costs etc

I've sent an email to Richter who I had my quote from to see what they say.

Email them and ask about the warranty.
Its wierd they dont seem to have updated their site, numerous people I know have contacted them.
Its an insurance policy though, was a swiss compnay iirc

No I was driving with kids in the car when the call came through so didn't have the brainpower to dig into what they were telling me. I'll be dropping them an email to see if they can elaborate.

And no, I've not launched the car using launch control in my ownership since April.. Last guy said he had used it a small number of times to see what it was about. Reason I've not used it is for fear of something like this happening!!!

Pretty scary to have a failing gearbox at only 2 years old on a 'normal' car. Fingers crossed the DCT in my Z4 lasts longer than that!

If I drive antisocially on my way home from work, my DSG7 (dry clutch?) smells like burnt clutch.
Can’t wait for it to fail!

Clearly last guy was launching it at every opportunity
