Hi,

As per title. I currently have a 74gb Raptor as my vista 64 boot drive and a 1tb F1 on the way. Unfortunitely there is one game (total anihilation) that i can not seem to get working with my new build. Basically, i want to create an XP image just for this game :D My concern is that the dual boot will cause issues with my system and or inhibit performance.

What do you guys think?

Right been doing some research. Looks like i have to install XP first. The game that i want to install is only 1Gb so i assume that i could create a 10Gb partition on my Samsung F1 (whilst vista is installed), install XP onto this partition then format the raptor and reinstall vista?

I've dual booted XP and vista before, iirc its easier to install XP then Vista, this worked fine for me.

It is possible to do it the other way round but I don't know the specifics.

you can do it the other way round but then you have to run the windows vista install again after the xp install and repair boot sequence.

Although if i were you I'd definately go XP first. I've never had problems with it.

Install XP first. Then Install Vista, then install any programs/applications you want.

Worked just fine for me when I did it like this. The bootloader sits on the first drive - which will be your Raptor ?

once you install Vista, the boot sequence will go
Vista boot loader for initial selection, then NTLDR for XP if you select it.

Ok, just came home and my F1 is here!!!! I assume i should firstly format it as NTFS?

I want to use the raptor as my boot / vista drive and only have XP on a small partition. Like others on this forum, I'm simply using XP in order to run a game that just doesn't work on Vista.

Note: Vista is currently installed.

So, should i first use partition magic to create a 10 Gb partition on my Samsung F1 1tb, then install XP (ensuring that i also delete the vista OS on the raptor within the XP setup menu), then boot from the vista and install it?

Also, i have heard that there is an option to make it wait only 5 secs or so before booting vista by default. This would be preferable for me as i will be predominately be using vista and XP only now and again. How do i access this menu?

Thanks in advance :)
