I've been sat daydreaming about what bike I'd like to get as my second bike; not now, or even in a few months, but just sometime down the line.

When the time comes to upgrade, I want to get something completely different to my current bike, a Bonneville. I'll probably keep the Bonnie anyway, but I still want something to set my sights on and save up for.

I am a big fan of the Ducati Diavel. I know its looks are like marmite, but aesthetics aside, does anyone have any experience with it/know someone that has one? What are they like to ride? Good/bad points?

Indeed, share your wisdom on why a Ducati would be bad? In my experience they are great bikes, what has put you off them so much?

Only bad thing I've heard about them is reliability issues. Specifically, the electronics I believe.

I have no idea myself, this is just what I've been told in the past.

Lmao, narrow minded pillock wazza.

Ducats from the 916 range and older prefer dry weather and can have some electrical issues if not looked after properly, like most bikes.

But the modern ones are just as reliable as the next IL4. I have ridden a diavel and can tell you it's a shed load of fun. Tons of grunt, easy to ride and a beast to boot.

Thanks for the response, Agnes. I did worry about the electricals, I guess with so much tech on-board, there's more to go wrong.

I would definitely like to test-ride one. Once it gets a bit warmer I'll nip down to my local dealer and see what they say. Took the Bonnie out today to pop to town and was a tad chilly!

My great grandfather told me that the Model T Ford was the must unreliable car he ever had, pig to start and the electrics were rubbish.
Because of this enlightened knowledge, no members of our family have owned a Ford since.

Things you have heard are just that...........things you have heard, i once heard that Ronald Reagan had the one of the sharpest brains in the world.

It's a little bit different if you only hear something from one person as opposed to it being common belief, no?

Haha I knew id get the hatred, unless you employ a mobile mechanic to follow you everywhere I'd stick to Japanese and stay well clear from anything Italian

Lol.

No need for any "Fanboy" type stuff guys (there's plenty of that in the Graphic section).

I was just trying to point out that ALL makes have had issues in the past.
Nearly all modern bikes are as reliable as each other. And yes they all look a mess when we throw them down the road :D

Seriously though I just don't like Italian bikes, each to their own n all that jazz, but the mechanics and electrical Arnt very good imo,Japanese are much more reliable but if that's the bike the op has his eye on then go for it,he has a much better bike in the triumph bonny imo

I ride a Suzuki, my point is all bikes can crash all bikes can brake down, Ducatis are no worse then any other brand.

I don't like cabbage dont mean nobody else should eat it. Opinions yes but not just crapping a bike because you don't like it.

Coarse ducati are worse, they always have been, always are and always will be,any good biker and mechanic knows that, same for Italian cars ect

Still a pointless post, if you was to say "had two ducatis had nothing but dramas and the dealer was no help" i would appreciate that but your just slating a bike without any real first hand experience just because somebody said they were crap.

I've owned a cagiva that was enough to scar me for life,it broke down riding away from showroom how bad is that, your a biker and you don't know Italian bikes are rubbish? Can't be much of a biker then

That's all on this subject, just to the op I wish you all the best if you buy the ducati but you heard it here first so don't say I didn't warn you about them
