** DUCKY SHINE III IN STOCK AT OVERCLOCKERS UK **

really want a mechanical keyboard as my saitek eclipse II is looking tatty these days (still working fine)

this looks really nice apart from the snake on the space bar, what is that about? the company logo is a duck and there is a snake there?

it just perpetuates this 'alienware' look to products that cheapens it and I really don't like it.

can you release a plain spacebar perhaps that can be fitted on?

It's to do with the Year of the Snake, I believe :)

Its because its the year of the snake. Last years one had a dragon printed on the keyboard i believe, or something to do with a dragon :P

I dont think it looks bad at all, if you dont like it, either turn off the LEDs or im guessing you could replace it.

Im sorry like but whats the difference from the shine 2? Seems to me its a wacking extra 20quid for a spacebar with a snake on it -_- Like really? Surely im not the only one whos confused, some of you guys have more money than sence lol

its new space bar, new light modes (better light on key pressing etc.)

I ended up getting the G2 Pro only lights on WASD & Dye casted keys feel so good!

Always thought about getting a full mech keyboard but never tried one, whats the best key to go for for someone whos a mech newbie?

i didnt want one until i watched the video. now i do :/

so to clarify, you have to choose the main key colour, but the spacebar is customisable?

cheers

depends what you want

there is a huge guide to mechanical switches in the peripheral section.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18523430

I personally started out with Blue switches. tried black and brown and wasn't impressed and then tried reds and immediately swapped my blue board for a red one.

are you a gamer or typist
and do you want the switch to click or not?

Im a gamer predominantly fps and strategy / rpg so ranging from bioshock / crysis to diablo3 / starcraft

I currently use a cyborg 7 and have also in the past used a logitech media keyboard both of which have quite chunky keys i prefer something with a bit of feel to the keys rather than soft touch style keyboards where you hardly know theyve been pressed think piano keys over laptop keys something with a good solid feel

It may not be worth the upgrade from the II but for people who don't own Duckys yet, it makes perfect sense to get the latest model.

I already own 2 mechanical keyboards, a Cherry G80 with blue switches which I use at work, and a QPAD MK-80 for home. I really don't need a 3rd, but I do also really like the look of those white LEDs...

i would suggest black or red.

black has a much higher resistance though which is responsive for gaming.

i personally find it tiresome to type on black switches but i think that has more to do with my typing style.

A man after my own heart I Love Reds.

I have been using a Blacks for about a month in the office I hated it to start with but now I kinda like it, I find it easier for typing on than Reds (less typos)

Will we be seeing the mini here or a tenkeyless?

WOW 36 post before anybody mentioned the TKL :D

I resisted the temptation to ask but I want to know as well :)

It will more than likely happen full size boards tend to be the preferred option in Asia/US market so that's why the 9008's are always released 1st followed by the 9087's.

All I can say is nothing has been confirmed either way.

that's the thing with moving to mechanical, you just aren't going to be able to try them out in typical UK PC shops (which are a joke compared to those in the US).

so it's hard to know what you like the feel of.

what we need here are all the different switch types put together like a swatch, that you can buy for a fiver to make an informed decision.
