Duke gets a release date

ive already played this on the xbox 360 in april and thought it was just terrible, but that was more down to how bad and janky the controlls were.

Downloading on PC now to see if its better

Hi,

Well just finished the demo, it was ok, nothing great! visual's a bit worse than i thought they would be, the driving bit was very meh, not the best way to drive people back to the Duke after so many years.

However, as pointed out, i think its from last years demo, so things could have been touched up since then,

Yeah strange that AMD Dual core app is installed on Intel machines.
Edit: Apparently the installer cant detect what CPU you have so the app is installed for everyone.
It should be safe to remove for Intel users.

I noticed HMV have removed the Balls of steel PC edition from their listing. Hopefully they haven't oversold their allocation and everyone gets it who ordered.

Just tried the Demo out via Steam. Its superb gameplay wise & graphically not that bad at all much better than I expected. It has the exact same vibe as Duke Nukem 3D so come get some!!!

1: Gfx are certainly no worse than most UT3 engine games. If this had higher quality textures it would look very good as the colours/lighting are spot on. I notice this uses an earlier UT engine not sure which one probably UT2.5 like the Splinter Cell series. I have already seen a lot of people moaning about the gfx all over the web they must be seriously deluded as this looks better to me than junk like: Crysis2, CODBO. Forget the texture quality overall the gfx are fine as its always a mixture of texture/shaders/lighting combination.

2: This demo contains more interesting gameplay to me than almost every other game I have played in many years. There is a lot of variety here & as we know this game is massive & takes around 12-15 hours on SP alone that tells you how much content is included. Compare that to POSes like CODBO/Crysis2 its no contest Duke is the king ;) This would be sold as DLC if they could get away!!

3: Controls are perfect for me using a wireless 360 gamepad no complaints as they are simple but responsive.

So many small gameplay touches as well which make it feel like your actually playing the game not waiting to complete another tedious QTE or some other modern gameplay gimmick like bullet time/slo-mo etc etc. I will not mention them to avoid spoiling for anyone waiting to play this later today ;)

Regardless of how well this does on PC I think it will sell well on consoles anway. Any longtime old school PC gamers & or Duke fans will freakin LOVE this game based on what they have done in the 2010 demo released here :D EU also gets this next week on Friday 4 days before US we get to kick ass & chew bubblegum :D

You can see his legs when you look down!

It uses UE2.5 but it's heavily modded to suit modern day machines and graphics.

I have borderlands on steam and duke nukem forever first access club downloadable content.

Do I have to install borderlands first for the demo to download? I cant figure this out

I preordered this a few days ago from play. How does the first access club thing work? As ive recieved nothing other than an email confirmation of my order. Have other people recieved anything regarding the first access club from play?
