Dumbbells help

Hey guys, quick question the Mrs got me some Dumbbells think they r from Argos, so i was just wondering what r the best excercises to do and for how long for? im currently about 12 stone 10 r so and about 5ft 10 and i just want to get a bit of muscle ive had a quick shot of them and ive got the bigger set of weights on them and the minute but not sure if im doing it right, and how long will it be before i see any benfit if i do them a few times a week...thanks :)
 
You should check the body builder thread on this forum for useful info. The thing is, you aren't going to see any good gains from just isolating your exercises to using Dumb Bells. Even with a good bench, you are going to be limited. Have you looked into what is involved if you are serious about gaining muscle? You need to be looking at growing the whole body really and eating properly with a good routine. The odd bicep curl here and there is not going to do anything. You might be better off joining a gym, or investing in a bar bell and good bench as well.

Whilst you are limited without a bench there is a user on youtube who's whole channel is dedicated to working out with just dumbells and common furniture. Sorry but I can't remember the username!

Your diet will need addressing too. Ideally if you can buy the empty barbell to complete the set you'll be in a better position and it shouldn't be more than £10-15ish.

Have a read of GordyR's sticky. Lots of useful information. Have a read and then comeback and ask any new/or the same questions again. :)

He did a funny video that was taking the **** out of those 'get ripped in 7 days' adverts. Went something like:

Day 1: Marathon
Day 2: Triathalon
Day 3: Ironman
Day 4: Marathon & Triathalon
Day 5: Ironman & Marathon
Day 6: Triathalon and Ironman
Day 7: Tour De France

:p

Day 8: Die,

I would imagine!

Can't find it at the moment think I found it via his website. There's another bit where he bangs on about some Ab contraption being of a handsize and fitting in your back pocket. It's a full size ab roller :p
 
Hmm well ok ive read that sticky and checked them vids out and it does seem very helpful, so basically im going to watch what i eat even more and lose a bit weight im still going to use my dumbbells and maybe some other excercise's and hopefully after a while i might see a little result hopefully :)
