Dungeon Defenders

i chose the sorcerer guy as it said thats for a novice, but im actually finding it easier with the knight...
im happy to game with some of you, add me on steam: Semiskimmed

The 'skill levels' refer to solo'ing really. They mean nothing. Squire and App have towers to block and hurt, Huntress can't block but can blow things to pieces with mass traps and Monk can't block and can only directly kill anything not electric immune with auras.

thanks.
i had a game with some decent people earlier, we failed at the last wave but it was enjoyable and nobody kicked anyone, i guess thats rare :p

before that game though i tried to join over 10 games and each time i was instantly removed, is there filters they put on their games for level requirements etc? or was it just people being idiots? theyre fast if so :D

There are a large quantity of morons playing the game. They can create private games or hide custom games but they don't and instead kick anyone who joins. You can probably guess that any game on Insane or something you want to be higher level and there's your explanation but a large number of games just do it for no reason. Easiest thing to do is host your own and kick people who are clearly too high level (or hacking).

really tempted to get this, it worth it?

If you like defence games like Defence Grid/Sanctum then it is for sure or if you haven't played either and fancy a new type of game.

You get a lot of content for your money and it can get addictive once you get good at it.I would say it's one of the best cheap games i've purchased out of my 400 or so.

The devs don't really seem to know what direction they're going in though and there lack of testing for patches is horrendous. 7.10, b, c, d and e was bad enough but 7.11 they broke traps, in 7.11b they fixed 1 problem and broke it in another way only this time for the better. But yes, theres a lot of things to do and it can be quite addictive.

Yes I agree to an extent, but compared with some games from much larger games companies this is bug free... from such a small software house I expected more bugs :)

Well the whole return to tavern crashing still doesn't seem to be fixed but yeah, bugs seem fairly limited, its mostly just issues with the core game and patches that are the problem. There lack of testing really makes them seem rather amateur, its not exactly something that happens only occasionally either, practically every patch has taken several attempts to get right and survival/strategy modes are still horrible grindfests and the only way to get decent loot atm.

Well after starting insane survival at 10.30 and not finishing untill 6am I agree with that.... I was (and still am) tired.... they do need to fix the tavern issue.

Worse thing is we have never done it before...tried several times but the strategy always failed, this time we had it spot on and well im a bit gutted, not because i wanted the giraffe but more so because i wanted to beat the challenge what i had failed so many times on.

I got to Alchemy Labs insane survival wave 20 when the crystal took 90% off it's health with nothing near it, annoying!

Yeah the disconnects can really suck on survival i've had some too but around wave 15 or so not real high luckily.

same last night - wave 21, and as soon as it started my prox mines started going off before anything was on screen - two minutes later, my crystal blows up, but nothing was inside the defenses :/

On the death cam, there were no enemies anywhere near the crystal.

Ah well, with 7.12 it'll be super-easy after the dark-elf nerf :p

Makes me glad I was playing DoW2 Retribution. I was only on wave 16 or 17, we'd just brought down the Avatar eldar boss and suddenly got kicked for steam maintanence. That took what, 30 minutes?

Oh thankgod, its about time they sorted out the score ticker.

I wouldn't say easy... towers will still be almost completely useless in high wave survival. It'll just mean the barricades can survive longer.
