Dungeon Defenders

Personally, I don't really care much about the balance. I mean, me and my friends have been playing it loads together, and we're only in the Lv30s, and we're having a blast. We aren't out there to grind out the best loot in the game, who cares about that? We just want to have fun, and this game is tons of fun.

We've also been trying out the PvP, decided on a level cap of 10. You can pick any character and any equips you like, no pets allowed. Then we just split up into teams and enjoy some CTF. There aren't 16 of us, but its still a good laugh, and suprisingly good fun.

Having fun as level 20 Apprentice wizard boy, creating a ring of overlapping lightning towers around the source amulet, zapping anything that dared enter the tower range. Been speccing my magika wizard lookalikey with just tower boosting stats, making them invincible (almost). :)

The game is fine at low levels and I seriously regarded it as one of the best games to come out this year when I was doing exactly what you have been doing.

The problem arises when you hit level 70 and suddenly all there is to do is to grind for new loot. Before the super loot patch it was worthwhile doing the challenges...now it's only worthwhile playing the same one or two levels over and over and over and over again. If you think you can escape from this by simply not caring about having the best loot then you'll need to think again as all the new content will be balanced on the assumption that players have access to one of the higher loot tiers.

Just got the Achievement for doing all the levels on any difficulty :)

Just did the last few on easy with some pugs to see what the levels are like...that last mine level is HUGE :p

going to start working through on hards now and get my gear up :)

Yeah unfortunatley the superloot patches made the game far too easy, I have no shame in admitting I'm a lootwhore and I generally get the most fun out of a game by trying to get the best loot, but now that I have monk with 800 tower damage, 350 radius and 200 health/attack rate as well as trap huntress with 749 tower damage and 300+ health and my hero apprentice does just over a million dps (1,000,390 iirc) everything is trivial, I also have a fairy that heals for 890 and all resists at 87%, sitting in a strength drain aura I can't imagine what they could possibly do to put any challenge into the upcoming nightmare. If they put emphasis on towers it'd just be a case of upping tower health on my apprentice/squire with strength drain auras which never break

That said it's well worth the £10 I paid, got over 400 hours in this game and the longevity far surpassed what I expected

I quite like the idea of playing the apprentice but -- every other hero I can hold LMB to have them spam their attacks, yay. The apprentice I can't because of the charge mechanic, so to spam I have to keep clicking -- queue 20-30 minutes into the game of constantly doing this and my arm is ruined. Anyway around this in the game? or just avoid apprentice? :(

Hold left and right click together.

You can hold both mouse buttons as Aedus said but that is horrible dps. I only got about 400k dps doing that as opposed to timing attacks and reaching over 1million dps. After a while I just ended up using AutoHotKey, if you wanted to use it just copy my script:

#MaxThreadsPerHotkey 2

`::
on := !on
while on {
Click d
Sleep, 83
Click u
}
return

the 83 is milliseconds to hold down the left mouse button for, that's what was optimal for me with 125 charge bonus on staff, you'd have to adjust the value so you got approx only 1 animated charged attack in every ~30 attacks in order to maximize dps

Im trying to play with people my own level, and have played through everything on easy, now normal, then hard then insance obviously...hopefully this wont get me loot too fast...and im trying to only use items looted by that character, so when im 70 im not looting for my new character...should make things a little more balance i hope :)

New DLC out, looking good, also a 1Gb download this morning shocking :)

Are the new maps any good? might pick the complete pack up and unlock nightmare mode early, though i imagine there will need to be a lot of balancing with nightmare mode dark elf warriors on insane are already crazy powerful!

To be honest I dont know, the fact that they are releasing it in parts is annoying, I was talking to a mate on Steam while in work and in his words:

Atlas: its ****, put blandly

So doesnt look like...

can any1 explain what IMF/ UMF etc is please?

Insane Monster Fest and Uber Monster Fest.

Insane Monster Fest is one of the challenges, where you face a gauntlet of non-stop mobs, having to kill them all before the timer runs out with a limited number of lives.

Uber Monster Fest is a new game mode that uses the IMF formula, and crosses it with the survival formula - meaning you do IMF for 14 waves to complete it.
