Dungeon Defenders

My huntress is rocking 1.4k DPS and I've managed to solo the first map on Insane, and got to the last wave of challenge 1 solo too at level 28.

Pretty godly once she gets a good weapon, just gotta kinda stick with it.

Yeah your gun is ridiculous, I'm there 'pap pap' papping away with my gun and in streaks 'Sneaky Bear' tearing up the place with his BFG! :D

Finding the hunter sucks. :o :( I know it's a team effort, but I don't want to sit around repairing other peoples stuff while they rake in the kills.

Anyone found any builds that positively mash face with her? :p

It's all about the weapon you have.

I was on 150DPS at 1 point, I got a new gun and it shot up to 1k DPS that instant, and the disks fly through enemies so it hits loads in a row too.

Think you just need to place Inferno Traps further forwards or use Gas Traps in the middle of my Electric Aura. That last level they were right in front of the barricade and between the Aura, the Bowling Ball tower and my ranged spam nothing made it that far.

For that level I definitely screwed up my placement. :o definitely think I need a better weapon, and need to focus my skills a bit more. Annoying that it's so expensive to respec especially when you're still experimenting with points.

Deffo need a better weapon. :p

I haven't put hardly any points in Hero hp or trap laying speed, or radius. Mostly in the damage & trap damage and a few in trap count to get more detonations for the same price. When you get to 25 heavy or pyro are great for their respective damage increases, also check the shop after each level is done, it stocks new items and that's where I found my ridiculous gun, was only 7k mana.

Stick with it for now and buy guns, not respecs, as you get further into the game, 100k mana will be nothing. Would prolly get it in 1 round.

Yeah, I'm sure it's just a case of getting some good gear. Only completed a few levels so far, and barely picked anything amazing up. (I presume nothing exceptional drops at low level? It's most torn gloves and other junk so far).

Just feeling a bit sore coming in so far behind on kills ATM. :p

You'll get a mediocre weapon from bosses, but I've never had a weapon I'd class as great, drop. The best I've seen were all from the tavern shop.
IMO top priority for a weapon is 1 that hits multi opponents; splash with cannons, guns and the disks. Damage is important too but the ability to hit multi enemies is what will let you hold your own against a horde of them. Disk weapons are insanely strong, but hard to aim at a distance, you gotta be upclose with it, but when you are you rip everything to shreds and I can basically 1 shot 90% of enemies on easy, except the ogres.

When I was at 1-24 I felt like a waste of space on my team, my dps was just **** due to using a bow that only hit 1 enemy at a time. But after the new weapon it flipped everything around and now I get near to top kills each map. Hunteress is too gear centric.

In the hour i played the game yesterday i definitely agree the squire seems to be easy mode where as my poor apprentice seemed a bit naff.. he does next to know damage with his attacks and my magic missile towers were a bit lack luster as well... i think the idea is supposed to be to spam the towers but the 80 points in defence does seem to be used up very quickly with 4 people playing

I'd say good stuff drops on insane, when I was solo'ing the first level a sick cannon dropped, need level 36 to use it though. I think the boss loot is random too, sometimes the weapon you get will suck, complete it again and it would be great, getting better the harder you do it.

1 thing I know is the challenges drop some sick loot, each of them have a specific weapon type they drop and they get better with difficulty again, for example: I know the 2nd challenge map always drops a bow at the end, and the harder level you do it on, rthe better the bow will be.

It's a cool game, can see myself playing it for a long time if they keep adding content like the interviews would suggest they will. Playing a Squire, currently only level 11 but it's good fun so far, playing two player co-op ranked with my brother who's a Monk, would be much higher level but atm we're only playing together! Eager to get playing as I'm a loot/stat whore. :D

The challenge is also very good, makes a nice change from the games of recent years that just far too casually easy or monotonous, indie games f t w? ) (and why does ocuk blank out " f t w " ;o)

Once you get Harpoon towers on squire its trivial to beat the first level on Insane. 40k xp for about 10 minutes work. Other classes really don't get it that easy. Still not properly out the Apprentice yet though.

Erm what? Harpoons don't appear to be all that strong and I'd imagine the Bowling ones are stronger than Harpoons on that level, mind explaining the the use of them in that situation? ;o

has anyone played this with a 360 controller?
i see its controller enabled, i just wondered which was best. playing this sort of game on the sofa would be insane.
im still a bit worried about buying the game though with no friends to play it with, online pugs might be a bit sketchy :p

I haven't tried the controller yet.

If you're looking for someone to have a game with now and then, add me on Steam :)

Can anybody clarify what the story is with achievements in this game ? Ive played about 3 hours solo and my apprentice has reached level 10 but no achievement !

Its mentioned on the steam forums you can only get achievements playing 'ranked' - I take it this means online ? Does that mean if I go on-line I need to start a character from scratch ?

Theres also an achivement for completing the tutorial - surely this can't be done 'ranked' ?

On another note - great game, I fancy trying online at some point - would I get away ok with no voice-comms ?

1) Dont know

2) Yes, ranked, yes, from scratch

3) Yes, it can, it's just watching a really basic video :p

4) Yup fine just typing

Ingame voice is apparently really quiet and so far I've not seen anyone use it in the few games I've joined anyway.

I just play ranked. Squire you can solo play without even trying. His towers do insane damage so completing Insane isn't that hard on Deeper Well or Magus Quarters. Apprentice you can probably do the same. Huntress and Monk you really need to play with people as the traps can't hold back large numbers of enemies and auras will struggle because of electric immune enemies.

The wifes watching xfactor and I have just got this anyone handy for mp blast with a newbie.

Steam name is Cool Hand Luke
