Dungeon Defenders

Well had this game for two days or so now, first impressions were good. The odd disconnect while playing but tonight I have had 7 disconnects not managed to complete one game in one hour. Poor show, this game should not have been released in such a poor state.

anyone tried local coop yet. was gonna post up for cheap copy for me n wife to play, but thought i would ask question first :)

A pal of mine was playing this at a small LAN party today, he had been pretty much playing it all day so must be good fun with local coop. I'm tempted to get it, but don't know if it will be a 5 min wonder...

Oh so its not just me then. Though I can't imagine my piece of **** internet wasn't helping.

Going by the log-in message they're doing an upgrade at 4-5am EST so hopefully it'll be better tomorrow.

Can't help but think the Heavy really wasn't worth the wait on my Huntress... for +18 I was expecting at least 100 increase in my dps. I got 42... from 660 to 702, talk about disappointing. I'd get more from having the Engi equipped but that'll make it a bit useless on those rounds where I never get to place any traps. Ethereal Arrow is awesome though, now hitting for just over 1000 and ploughs through everything in a long line.

Update

7.04 Patch Notes:
* Steam persona names with non-ASCII characters can now connect to TrendyNet. (Korean names, etc)
* Fixed special characters "\", "/", "<" creating unjoinable online games
* Fixed "Start Wave" not updating to display the current Wave number of the match
* Fixed potential losing-mission-unlock issue
* Added option to toggle chase camera offset between left, right, and centered
* Added option to disable "automatic step towards melee target" behavior
* Made UI Scale keep the edge-alignment of the UI elements, so they stay at their corner even as they get smaller
* Console key now changed from Tilde to F1
* Apprentice: increased Tower attack rate ramp
* Squire: lowered Tower DPS ramp
* Increased maximum number of dropped items on the ground in missions
* Made "L" key quickly log/unlock the highlighted item in your Item Box
* Added -dowritelog commandline option to output log data & better error reporting method
* Reworked TrendyNet keep-alive logic to minimize disconnects and reduce load

These guys are awesome - they're getting some of the niggles, which on the face of it seem minor but really do affect game play (UI in corner and chase cam view for ranged)

Squire nerf, eh.
No huntress buff though, but being level 40 and putting out 3k DPS is alright, I guess.

Squires towers get a stupid amount of damage though.

And meh, tbh most people just don't have a clue how to play Huntress. I've stuck all my points in Hero Damage and Trap Count, then once I hit lvl20 I've been putting most into Ethereal Arrow. I had a game yesterday with 3 huntresses (Hall of Court I think), the other 2 had ~120 kills, I had ~200 hero kills ~800 trap kills. Very early game is a little awkward because of low trap count but if you put them in the right places (and allies aren't covering it with tons of deadly towers) you can still get lots of kills.

Glad to see the max item drops is increased. Hope it makes a difference though... limitless would be preferable.

Played it but much prefer straight top down TD games like Sol Survivor to this. I find myself just wanting to ignore the action element and play it top down. I also find the collecting of resources between every wave, sifting through drops, and having to walk around the whole map placing turrets rather tedious. The best bit about TD is being able to sit back and watch your turrets try to annihilate the oncoming forces, which you can't do here because you're stuck in some passage getting RSI.

They're having server problems because of popularity, which so far they seem to be keeping on top Of pretty well concidering they're a small indie dev.

The game itself isn't in a poor state at all, in fact from all I've played it's a very polished product.

Words can hurt you know. :(

Yeah most of my points are hero damage and then trap related. My proximity trap hits like a truck, must be around 2.5k damage, but only 6 charges, which I'm planning to up next. I mainly use my gun though, double disk thrower which slices through enemies, so my 3k DPS hits all enemies in a row, it's downfall is though that reloading takes ages.

I'm half levelling a squire too now, think he's around 22. Pure tower build, so I just make towers with him and then switch to my huntress.

Gah.... I lost most of my weekend to this damn game :/

Yep played waay too much, currently going through phases of feeling totally godlike to feeling a bit lacking.

This is mostly down to trying to spec fully tower with my apprentice, sure my towers may kick ass but there is something fun about having a kick ass staff and wading in like a squire ;)

This game is super addictive, I think the sheer number of items and traits helps especially as you can invest in every item and level them up.

I'm loving my huntress with a lvl12/20 flamer which does 22,000 damage over 8 seconds of ammo, I also have pretty potent traps, one of them (I forget it's name) deals an 8k hit 10x!

Problems with TrendyNet capacity aside this is a very polished game indeed.

I'm currently using the "tech" style weapon you get from the 2nd boss and I'm finding it kicks quite a lot of arse. I've just collected a ton of piercing bows to play with though. I'm not sure which will work out best.

I think I've focussed in traps much more than you. I only recently started upgrading my personal attack power and it sounds like my traps do a lot more. That said, it's a bit of a pointless investment as I often don't to build much/anything if there's a squire in the game.

The lightning towers I've seen are insane - almost on a level with a squires super powerful towers :)

When it works it works superbly, however it really is an online game it should work as promised. Being small does not mean you should give a company slack. I am a small business owner and I dont get any slack from my customers they expect a better service than going with a national company.

Yea I didn't focus on traps as much as hero traits, I like putting out insane damage with my gun. I got lucky with my current gun, was sold at a shop for 7k and everything I've found so far hasn't come close to it. The flamer is okay, but it's very close range and all fire damage, which kinda puts me off. I also have a godly tier gun in my item shop which reqs level 60 to use, so I locked that ready to buy later. Tbh I'm thinking of rolling a monk, but not sure how good they actually are. Huntress is fun, but I want something new to play and monks seem to be a rarity.

Monks seem kind of tough to do well with but they look really interesting. I've moved to the huntress from a squire it's a lot more fun as the huntress - the squire tends to be more about standing still/moving slowly and letting your traps do all the work.

I just experimented with upgrading a bow I found and it's increased my DPS from ~670 to just over 2000 :s Looks like the bfg type gun is actually not that great:
