Dungeon Siege 3

Bushmins I have a few questions if you don't mind :)

I've read that playing as a vunerable character such as a mage leads to you being automatically targetted by mobs with no way to deter them, is this correct?

Do you have any noobs tips for someone that knows next to nothing about the game?

Oh and one last thing, I downloaded the demo and it looks awful - everything set to max although the demo doesn't have the high res textures, do they make that much difference?

Not sure about the graphics, they look really great to me. But i dont really rate graphics, i rate game play ;). Heck i still think nwn and Icewind Dale look good.
Im guessing hi rez textures would make a difference.

There are so many classes to pick. It is a lot easier to have a team of fighters, but i had no problems with my mage or when having a mage in my party. Although i have read that same thing about mobs targeting spell casters i never saw it while playing, but there are a lot of mage types (some fighters). I think an all mage group would be tough, but im not sure thats even possible.
There is a part of the game many people have trouble and thats a rat early on, funnly enough i got throught it first try, but when i went back to a previous save to see what all the fuss was about it took me ages to kill it.
Its a fun game and its got plenty of exploration on offer.
If you like all the d&d games out there i cant see why you wouldnt like this one so give it ago. Seemed a bit daunting at first but the best way i found to get over that was to get stuck in and ask questions when i had them.
I picked up The River of Time off Amazon.

There is a thread if you do a search for Drakensang in the title, quite old now but might have some useful info in it.

played about 8 hours of this and its very average, the worst thing are the controls (its much more suited to a controller imo) as i can't get used to W as move forward, using the mouse to move is suicide! i can't even remap my keys to more familiar ones either.

i can see how it could work better on a 360, for example, moving the character can be mapped to the left stick and camera control to the right. i don't know if it already does this but the pc version seems very poor.

the camera angles arent the best and rotating it around mid battle, you lose your orientation very quickly.

don't think i'd bother finishing this tbh.

to be honest, i didn't know you could.

however i dont have a wired 360 pad but i have a charge and play, didn't really think that would work?

I found it really bad, guess I was expecting more of a DS2 or Diablo kind of game and got some watered down, simplified console friendly rubbish instead :(

I'm finding this game ok, I'm playing as the gun slinger woman and having quite a bit of fun.

Its reasonably challenging although I have only died during boss battles.

One gripe I have is the multiplayer is a bit strange, all the players have to stay huddled around each other at all times - you cant run where you want. Its a bit of a weird decision imo and makes the game feel like one of those old side scrolling beat em ups you used to get on megadrive. A weird sensation in 2011.

Get this game while its cheap, pay full whack and you're gonna be dissapointed.
