Dungeon Siege 3

Dungeon Siege III isn’t about endlessly replaying on the offchance of finding better gear or another flawless gem: it’s about playing through the story, with or without a friend.

Baaaaaaad move!

Thats one of the main reasons people hammered Diablo 2 so much!!

Obsidian-style? Obsidian basically uses bioware stuff and copies their games, i.e nwn, kotor..

Was Mask of the Betrayer a copy of NWN1's story? They were contracted to make those sequels and provided the Aurora engine to do so.

In KOTOR 2 there was some overlap with side quests (like swoop racing) but Revan and the Exile's stories were completely different. The influence system didn't exist in KOTOR 1. You couldn't train your party members as Jedi, you were restricted to the ones that joined you. Carth was a whiny idiot, Atton on the other hand took the Han Solo archetype and fleshed it out to give us a tough wisecracker with a dark past.

I guess you're also not aware that Obsidian was founded by Interplay studio employees who worked on titles like Planescape Torment and Fallout 2 previously. They even cooperated with Bioware for the Baldurs Gate series.

@HarryPainful, if you want a hack and slash just wait for Diablo 3? Or play the countless third-person action games that already exist?

I hope there will be loads of hidden loot and massive non-linear dungeons.

I guess it will do for a filler until the real rpg's are released.

Same, played right through 1 several times with different people. Heard bad things about 2 and never gave it a chance. Heres hoping 3 puts it back on track!

Dungeon siege 1 was amazing. It has to be in the top 10 (if not top 5) of my favorite games. Dungeon siege 2 However was a complete let down, and not due to the shody graphics at release.

They added a DEEP RP storyline and took all the humour and quirkiness out of the game (Goblin underground zone, flamers, electric guns etc), and that destroyed the feel the original had. I got about 3/4 of the way through it before i just gave up.

Also multiplayer was in no shape or form like the original, The original had a separate world map just for multiplayer. Unfortunately for fans of the Original i believe DS3 is heading in the same direction as DS2 from what i have read/viewed. Such a shame too.

Well imo only then i guess i dont think they have done anything original with rpg esq with games because with the games i have played kotor 2 mainly they did a rushed job and didnt come up with anything unique that is Obsidian esq. They might have added a few things but nothing great that couldnt have been done by bioware for example. I mean if bioware did kotor2 im sure it would have had those things obsidian did and a heck of a lot more.

Plus they just have the odd one or two games done that isnt sequels from other franchises so they haven't done much to make them different from say bioware.

Interesting about interplay tho i didnt know that but my comment was from when obsidian was established and not before. Plus i didnt like fo2 or played pst. Tho i might have liked fo2 if it was made a bit later so it benefited from better gfx.

Not trying to argue but from my view obsidion mainly does games which are sequels from other franchises and companies i.e kotor from bioware and nwn from bioware. If they did some stuff that was original and with some new IP that i have seen and liked and had their own flair of gameplay then i would say otherwise.

Be interesting to see what ds3 is like, if its like the 2nd then i think i will avoid it but if its like the first, especially with the seamless skill leveling up based on what you fight with, then i will defo be watching for it tho i doubt ill get it on release day.

Dungeon Siege III is now available for pre-order on Steam and if you do it before June, you'll get DS1 + 2 for free. Which is odd because they were published by Microsoft Game Studios. But there you are.

Keeping an eye on this, might be a good arpg. Obsidian can be a bit hit and miss though. Their writers are good however but in an arpg it doesn't matter that much. But who knows, might have some depth to it that makes sense.

They made a 3rd one? Didn't the first 2 selling four copies between them not give them a hint? The first one was dull as it autoplayed itself, the second one was worse. And i've yet to see Obsidian make a game without the studio rushing them halfway through and ruining it.

Dungeon Siege III Preview - Compared to Torchlight, there are some big differences in combat. While Torchlight is action bar focused, DS3’s combat is much more immediate-hit the punch key, and your wizard plants a lighting punch right in a zombie’s face. But as I ventured around in co-op, I couldn’t help but feel "this is so what Torchlight should have been." Playing a narrative-optional, loot heavy game is way more fun with friends, Diablo made that clear years ago. That said, if I’m going to tolerate this game at all with a mouse and keyboard, Obsidian has got to get their controls wrangled in. PC controls on the build I played weren’t final, but with a June release fast approaching, they still need a ton of work. Sometimes more so than monsters, I found the camera to be my greatest enemy, the controls of which are shared by the mouse pointer, middle mouse button, scroll wheel and the 'A' and 'D' keys-WTF! My preview left me really wanting more, so I’ve got my fingers crossed that Obsidian is able to patch the control issue up before launch, especially now that the genre is finally starting to see fresh signs of life.

Hit the punch key and something awesome happens?

I enjoyed Dungeon Siege 2 and after finishing Witcher 2 so quickly, I might pick this up if the reviews are good. Although I am half tempted to pick it up on the 360 so I can play local co-op using two pads. Hmmm

Hmm i'll give the demo a shot just for the fact that the first one was so awesome. Not liking the fact they have strayed far away from what made the original so good. :(

yeh ive had a 15min go on it and i can say i dont like the feel of it at all, oh and the menu system for inventory etc are god-aweful.

doesnt feel in any way like dungeon siege.
