Dunkirk (Summer 2017) directed by Christopher Nolan

I really like the look of this. Good use of sound (the "Jericho" siren of a Ju-87 Stuka dive bomber) and looks like it could be quite epic in scale hopefully. I can't imagine Nolan would go into this one without wanting full realism where ever possible.

Don't get me wrong, I adore Nolans movies. But he has real trouble translating delicate and subtle emotions to the big screen. He's sort of like a robot with only a transcript of what human beings actually feel. He's so ham fisted with it that I think it could effect certain aspects of the 'brothers in arms' theme that's necessary to make a great war movie.

Of course, I'm being entirely judgemental as I haven't seen it yet xD

Yeah it's a good thought. I wonder if he wrote screenplay for this? If not, perhaps it'll get a better emotional resonance as, like you say, he tends to make quite emotionally cold films.

Wow, really hope this is a winner, been looking at something to match up to the likes of Saving Private Ryan

Hoping its accurate as others has said and that they portray events excellently

Overall colour tones/grading and visual style looked more sci-fi than traditional ww2 era tends to "look" I thought.

I think the new trailer is excellent. No issues at all with the "clean" style. It looks like a classic, large scale, war film done in the old (non CGI) way. Very pleased.

Just hope it's more Saving Private Ryan than Atonement if you get my drift. I'm hoping for really well done battle scenes and the trailer didn't show any of those. But I suspect that's just because Nolan wants to hide all that. Maybe we'll see bit more in next trailer. It'll hopefully be gritty and adult (maybe a 15 certificate) but I'm worried it'll be a 12 and watered down. Ultimately, Nolan is in full control and this is his WW2 film. So I'm confident.

Really loved Memento, The Dark Knight, Prestige and Inception but haven't been so keen on his other films.

This is going to be interesting. Telling a straight story with no twists is going to be interesting.
