Dust on the sensor and cleaning

Just cleaned mine for the first with a Sensor Swab, well three actually! I've owned the camera less than a month and although it was only two bits of dust once I knew they were there I could see them in my pics so had to clean it. I was suprised it took three goes though! I was also suprised at the cost! :(

Does it normally take a few goes or did I just get unlucky?

Roll on more anti-dust systems in camera!

You should really get yourself a bulb blower. Hold the camera (mount facing downwards) and blow the bulb into the chamber with the shutter down.. Then after a few puffs do the same thing with the sensor exposed. Give it a good number of puffs and then do a sensor clean test (Blue skies work great) and then see if you really need to use a swab. You should only need 1 swab if any after such a small ammount of use. This is the method I use and it works great.

Yeah. Was it your first time? I used about 3 - 4 on my 20d when i first got into cleaning. ( however mine was a very bad case of needing cleaning, I had proper marks on mine )
 
Haven't needed to clean my camera yet (350d) but whats the correct way? Where can i get the right stuff from the main street.

12 pack of Type 2 Sensor Swabs (Canon 20D size and Nikon D70 I believe)

Eclipse Cleaning Fluid


I saw those static pens on show at the Focus On Imaging. They retain a static charge that lifts off dust and then you earth it with a wire and the dust just falls off the super fine bristles. But I manage fine with a bulb blower and sensor swabs.
 
I remember seeing web page where someone made an anti-static cleaning tool out of a piezo gas oven lighter but I haven't got a link. I think he claimed it is the same principle that is used commercially.
 
Sensor swabs are over the top in my opinion. A spatula and pec-pads do just as good a job for much less ££'s
 
Yup I still use the 300D sensor swipe from copperhill and I still am on my first tub of eclipse fluid and pecpads too (that's almost 2 years!!) - I use the same swipe on all bodies from 300D right up to D70 and D2x if/when needed. It's in the hands =)
 
Hey guys, my sensor is in desperate need for cleaning and it looks like SensorSwipe + Pec Pads + Exclipse is the best way but i can't seem to find where to actually order the SenserSwipes from???

Can anyone help me out?
