He would have been holding on from a charging Max on fresh tyres when Hamilton was on old tyres. Now its the other way round but Lewis on better tyres

Hamilton made up 6 seconds during that VSC stint

He didn't, the gaps are much larger when the VSC is out

Verstappen and Hamilton to take each other out (if I was Hamilton I would do what Verstappen did last year). Russell to win and Leclerc to close gap to Verstappen.

So Verstappen onto the soft, Hamilton and Russell stay out on the medium.
If Merc stopped again, they'd be behind Verstappen and on the same tyre, now Verstappen is right behind them on the faster tyre.
