DX10 will be like SM3 again. All the hype by people who just spent a packet on them but the second gen cards will be far better :p

DX10 hasn't even been released yet and it seems we won't see anything from it for ages as every title has been delayed LOL and you think DX9 is dead, LOL, keep dreaming nub.

Because I wanted to express my opinion of this flamebait rubbish?

No,

Thats how you have percieved it.

Fact is the DX 10 cards are dropping in price.

Making spending 200 + quid on a DX9 card harder to swallow.

DX9 dead before DX10 is even released? This thread makes no sense whatsoever and I was going to say so, then saw who posted it and my surprise faded. 8800's are still the best part of £400, and a 7900GT can be had for a mere £135. It's silly to think that the tiny minority of those who can afford an 8800GTX are going to cause the death of DX9 when so many still have and will buy cheaper DX9 parts.

easyrider by the way, were you sleeping during English lessons? :p

I have percieved this thread as a "DX10 rulz DX9 sux" flamebait thread...

...because that's what it is.

Really easy, grow up some. Good boy.

How do you work that one out?

I suggest you read the thread again.

I don't think I'm alone here when I question in what sense DX9 could be dead? Sure spending upwards of £250 on say an X1950XT 512mb becomes hard to justify when for ~£300 you can get an 8800GTS which is much faster and supports newer technology but the idea that DX9 is going to disappear any time soon would be a bit of a fallacy. The userbase is too big so there isn't going to be any huge crush of developers to produce only DX10 games, in much the same way that AGP hasn't gone away either although obviously it is (much) further along the path to being obsolete than DX9.

sorry if this is a daft Q but will dx10 games play on DX9 cards ?
I would think so, there are a large amount of people still using older graphics cards so it wouldn't make sense for the gaming companies to release a game for the 27 8800GTX owners worldwide! ;)

10/10 for most useless thread of 2006.
Shhh don't interupt the 'preacher'

dx9 will be dead when they released a dx10 game
So 'when' will that be? Hmm may have to buy a 128-bit CPU to future-proof my rig . . . .

but why would easy innocently start a discussion on whether DX9 was dead, when DX10 hasn't even been released!
Funny thread! :D

i suppose you could say the g80's atm are a waste of money as you said about spending 200+ on a dx9 card, seen as when all the decent dx10 games drop the g80 will be way out its depth :D :p
