Dying Light GPU and CPU test

i havent got far in this game yet bcos beside the fact playing solo scares me i actually enjoying the side quests in this game
unless they get rly bad later on i think they did a good job with them, i just did gas mask man which was funny :) and rescued that lady which was pretty grim

Here's a comparison of the frame times in Dying Light between my soon to be RMA'd gtx 970 and the old Radeon 7950.

As you can see the gtx 970 has erratic frame times which I can see as random stutter as if something has loaded from hard drive. The Radeon 7950 has generally very smooth frame times and no spikes and no stutter noticeable all all. Vsync was enabled for the test but with no vsync the gtx 970 can go to about 74 fps while the 7950 tops out at 45 fps.

This may have something to do with the amount of memory each card is using and the Nvidia gameworks features. The game appears to use right up to 3.5GB on the 970 while the 7950 tops out at about 2.8GB. I set the maximum settings available for the gtx 970 and left the settings the same for the 7950. The view distance was set to 100%. The memory usage disparity could also be due to how the game allocates memory when it detects the gpu memory size.

I suspect the stutter could be due to the Nvidia memory issue where the game is trying to load data into the full 4GB but the Nvidia drivers are only allowing 3.5GB to be used.

It would be interesting to see if any 290X owners have similar frame timings to the 970 since that card would use the same amount of memory or more.
