E-maxx Brushless Edition

Have you tested the glow plug take it out and check.
fuel lasts for ages if stored in cool dark place
reckon reason it aint starting is your flooding it.
dont run it too rich or you got no chance.
As for the plug RB no6 is a good starting point for winter.

glow plug is good, however it may not be good enough for winter.
its always been a engine that seems to flood easy, yet when run flat out does lean out too much.

i think my first starting point would be to get a glow plug that is made for these temps first. :)

I have a HPI Nitro Firestorm or MT I'm not sure which. Had it about 6-7 years now and I want to get it out again to play with....

It wont start, could I take it to a local store to get it in working order again? I didn't build it so Im abit scared to take it apart. Should I just get a new one and save the hassle?

Return the engine to stock setting, change the plug for a new one, fully charge the glowstart (making sure that it is putting out over 1.3V when fully charged) and give it another punt.

Factory settings will make it run like arse but once it fires up you can start to lean it back up.

Nitro RC in the snow was great fun, all be it short lived. It was -7'C and it took a heat gun to get the thing started and once running the snow was stacking up around the engine faster than it was melting so it kept cutting out if you didn't keep the revs up. I want BST back so I can get out in the evenings with mine again!

I think I'm going to have to get myself a 1/16th drifter or a micro-t to use inside to pass the next couple of months!

i had a mid night pumpkin. that was the nuts!

I agree. One of my friends had one, which I believe he had hopped up quite considerably. It used to wheely on demand and was capable of speeds that I could only dream of acheiving with the Radioshack/Tandy R/C cars my parents used to buy me.

I think not having many awesome toys as a child has affected me through adullthood. I have since owned a T-maxx, Jato, Revo and a Hyper ST!

Just thought I would share a pic of my custom T-Maxx lot of money went into it

My Super Maxx has been sitting in my loft for about a year :o

Mainly because I have stripped my last spur gear that works with a strobe slipper clutch system :(

I have similer problem with this T-Maxx, have trouble getting it to go into second gear, all the box has been stripped out and replaced with Robinson Racing stuff, minus reverse gear aswell, everything has been changed but still has same problem.
Maybe its to powerful I dont know, it is an animal though. so now it just sits in the shed with the buggy.

Overlag your issue doesnt sound weather related.

If you use the hairdryer on it you will be able to get that block damn near as hot as when its running. Certainly hot too the touch. So if that doesnt do it then i would say its more plug related. Certainly would be where i would be looking there before worrying about your fuel.

Back to the thread main topic. I love that E-Maxx and would love the cash to buy one.

But the whole thing about nitro vs Electric is really silly. Both are superb you just really have to decide would you rather the nice quiet battery charging super power route or would you prefer the loud nitro fueled power route.

Could also be the front bearing or where the carb inserts into moto, if it is sucking in air can lead to all sorts of problems. Do you know what the motor is.

TRX 1.5, its had new seals on the carb, but not a new front bearing. I think i need to tear it down again and seal it properly.

I used to have a Predator P8 and all I can say is that it is a great idea badly executed - the diff spurs always used to go, no BBs in the steering and if you landed a jump wrong the chassis used to snap. Not a patch on my B3. Also noticed Graham North mentioned in the review - brings back memories, I used to race alongside him at the North East Regionals!

Northy for Nortech Racing, he does some better shock seals.

Saw a few Predator X11s last weekend and Elis Stafford was running one.

I don't think anyone here is saying otherwise.

I actually prefer electric due to quiet running and less tuning issues but for my usage pattern it just doesn't work. I want to be able to decide off the cuff that I want to take my RC car out for the first time in 8 weeks and have 2 hours of run time. You can't easily or cheaply do that with electric.

That said I'm desperate for some small scale electric stuff to use inside. I think before the year is out I'm going to have a Losi micro T high roller and a 1/18 Yokomo drifter at the very least :D
