E2200 - Standard intel heatsink/fan or not?

Only to come on here and find that i'd wasted 3 hours of pain cuts and bruises (i bashed the wall in a bit :)), because YOU CAN TAKE THE FAN OFF. I nearly cried when it finally went in.

We've all done something like that... We've all been there in some shape or form... :)

Lol! it took me ages to spot the fan comming off!

As for noise its pretty quiet. (aka not the quietist but good for £17). As a comparison i cant hear it over my case fans (but they are they only thing i can hear out of my pc as the are tsunami dream ones are a dog loud). When they are off its about the same noise level as my psu (ehtermax liberty) and between them are both pretty quiet :), mearly showing up how much my hdd sounds liek it wants to pack up...

Anyway long thing short is pretty quiet :) (and can be silent without the fan...)

Get 2160 or 2180 .... 2200 is a waste :/. They get very hungry above 2.8ghz, my needed 1.57v to hit 3.2 .... on the other side temps were still ok so thats fine. I think E2160/2180 are better clockers.

my stock cooler keeps my chip cool - but its rather noisey - even at low revs - just like poor bearings - a sort of gravely noise - just annoying really as by far the loudest thing in the case.

can you pop the fan off ? with those clips around the edge ? and using thermal sticking pads put a 80mm quiet fan on top ?

Don't do it. Either buy a better CPU and run it at stock, or get a decent CPU cooler. Overclocking with the stock cooler will give you a headache (literally).

AC Freezer 7 Pro is what you want.
