What effect does it have? I don't understand what you're getting at. I can't see how it will slow the gameplay down or dumb it down either.

Maybe a sign of the times but any FPS without ironsights now feels un-natural to me. Possibly one of the reasons I've never got on with any of the Halo series

Surely having a game with ironsights makes it more realistic? If i had a gun i wouldn't be running around shooting from the waist i'd be aiming down the the iron sights to be more accurate. I also fail to see how this would slow gameplay down, It's much better having this option and makes it easier to pick people off at a distance.

You only have to play CoD online to see how ironsights slow down gameplay horribly. You either stop or move very slowly when aiming resulting in everything being much slower and easier to hit.

I hope it's better than Far Cry 2. That game had massive potential and ended up falling on it's ass hard, for me anyway. Great graphics but terrible voice acting, enemies that could see through jungle bushes, guns that felt like peashooters and those goddamn checkpoints which made some retard in a jeep chase you for miles until you got out and killed them, drive a few yards down the road after doing so and another one appears... super annoying.

But it makes it' more realistic. Games like halo are fine because you always have close combat and there is no need for ADS but games like cod need it as people hide round corners and behind walls, where as in halo they just run out at you.

That is what made me never play the game again. I couldn't hide anywhere as they always knew where i was.

I guess it comes down to whether you want realism, or something a little more involved. I want the prirates to be running and gunning in my face, while i'm darting between buildings and twitch shooting them in theirs. I liked the combat in the original Far Cry - it flowed well. Add ironsights and everything becomes clunky.

Far Cry 3 - is that a demo level? If not, I don't like the fact that within a minute of being in the waterfall he has a pistol, machine gun, machete and sniper rifle. :p

Does look pretty good though.
