***E3 - 2017 ***

well said.

Anyways why doesnt microsoft just in the whole xbox console and just release games on PC instead?

Theres a lot of pc gamers out there and microsoft could just create a "steam box" sort of thing which will just be a PC in a HTPC case with a windows 10 gaming OS version to boot

Yes, and the Steam Machines have done so well thus far, haven't they?

As far as i am aware, most new xbox games will be playable on the PC, buy one, get it on two platforms.. at least that counts for games like the new gears of war

I remember reading that PC gaming revenue overtook all console revenue combined in 2016 - primarily down to ingame purchases on games such as LOL, DOTA, Overwatch.
Really?...thats good..have a source?..or was it all Valve CS skins?
If thats true..then gotta wonder, why dont MS jsut make a PC gaming machine then in an Xbox form factor..seems...strange they haven't gone for that then.
Doing a search it seems true by a VERY huge wide margin.though the top games seem to be "pay to win" games. There must be a hell of a huge reason to give up on that kinda money to not make a PC console then.

To be honest, the Xbone and especially the Xbone x are essentially windows PC's, they are running a version of windows on them, thats why their backwards compatibility works and the original name was intended to be "Direct X" box...

Many games are now cross platform between the two

Overall, I think Microsoft won this one. They had the most games shown, of whicvh many were this year's releases and had gameplay. Sony was a bit underwhelming, but they did have Monster Hunter Worlds. However, that game is also coming out on Xbox One and PC now, so it's not exactly an exclusive.

It should be obvious from the moves that Microsoft has been making the past couple of years that they in the process of consolidating the Xbox and Windows gaming ecosystems.

When are they doing the open top bus parade with the trophy?

It's a games exhibition and nobody "wins" it. I hate that term it's so fanboy-ish

Microsoft had in my opinion an average showing considering they showed off new hardware. The Porsche segment was stupid, I honestly couldn't give a **** if they do a world wide showing of a CAR at a video games expo.

It started quite promising and spoke a lot about specs, power etc without really showing it to be honest. I'm a PC gamer for many years so I look at the numbers and they excite me but for the large majority outwith this forum will likely not understand.

I felt Sony had an average showing, I get why you were underwhelmed and it's all subjective really but they edged it on games for me. They also have some in their locker that they didn't show which bodes well for the future.

Third party's were all fairly as you would expect with no real surprises really.

Looking forward to the One X being available for pre order, likely get it day one to go with my nice KS7000 and Pro.

The X1 can be moved out upstairs but I barely use it as it is so perhaps sell it.

Indeed they are, and it makes a lot of sense, as you have a large market of casual gamers that want the Xbox, and an equally large if mot larger market of more hardcore gamers that would be happy to get some decent Xbox games to play on their PC's.

I'f MS can go a bit further and integrate the XBONE more so it can be used to stream games from my PC then that would be absolutely awesome.

Overall I was disappointed with E3 this year, absolutely nothing that made me sit up and think ooohhh, I want that. Hoping some decent games will appear as the videos from the booths appear over the coming week or so.

thats what i have already indicated if you bothered to read the last page or two!

i said how MS should just make a steam box and be done with it

Do you have data or a source to back up the claim that hardcore gamers make up most of the market as it certainly doesn't sound right tbh.

The high end PC market isn't actually that big compared to the more casual console market.

Yea, doing more research, actually reading into it, it doesnt all stack up, the numbers being used are way off and are flat out not counting many things. Online services for one.
The PC numbers seem to lump anyone anywhere that has an account and bout a £3 game from steam as a "gamer".

There is not a huge amount of actual data as it's not massively released, but from looking around, XBOX live has 55 million active users , PSN has 65 million and Steam has 125 million, in terms of concurrent users steam peaks at 14 Million ish, not easy to find data for XBL and PSN in terms of this info. So I would say that they are fairly similar sized markets.

I'm not saying that the PC gaming market as a whole is "super hardcore" but when you look at the most played games, they aren't exactly casual games, DOTA2 and CS:GO have 17 million players (this will be higher than actual as it will include smurfs etc) between them, also have games with monster player counts like the mmorpg's which I wouldn't call too casual.

Yes silly High end gamers are not hugely common, (but then the most played games are games that can be played by much, much lower spec machines, doesn't make them any less "hardcore" gamers though)

The PC market in it's breakdown I would say seems much more hardcore than the console market (look at E:Sports, the biggest are PC games) Doesn't mean there aren't people playing casually on the PC however.

But if MS can bring their console games to the people who only play on PC then it can only increase their numbers a lot.

If that means more games for PC, then good. However, I don't like the idea of GFWL 2.0.... which so far Windows Store is only barely keeping just above. As a PC Gamer, I'm still interested in buying an XB1 for the cross-buy titles and 4k media (stick it downstairs with the 4k TV).

Was gonna say, if theres people seeing a reason for the XboX, then surly they would see NO ONE is looking at a stand alone "steam" machine, they would all just laugh and say "nah just by PC".
Has anyone here even bought or looked at the current machines available?

I don't know if anyone is as excited as I am about AC7, but here's some gameplay from e3 you may have missed. It looks glorious !! Hurry up 2018 !
