e46 m3

chalk and cheese for me, plus I can claim for an m3 on company car as it has 4 seats - trust me the m3's seats are viable a 997's just arent :p

i hear what you say about facelift's but its a pretty emotional decision really, always liked and respected them and they are cheap enough to buy, enjoy and chuck away in the winter :)

Yay thread!

There are too many chavs picking these up now thinking they can afford to run them, sadly, they can't and end up being neglected.

If that's what you want, cool beans. I couldn't think of anything more disatisfying than buying a car that actually looks like it came out in 1999 (M3 wasn't facelifted remember).

M3 was facelifted a bit in 2003 (LED rear lights, wider boot handle).

more like "rearlifted" then? :D
seems a bit weird they didn't do the same facelift as the regular coupe's as they look so nice imo.

was hoping you would see it Nickxx, anything massive I should look out for, I've read up on a few sites but first hand experience always helps :)

What car did the dealer offer you 17k for (your Porsche?), or am I reading your post wrong? :p

Edit: E46 M3 looks like it came straight from 1999? No way! I still think they look fantastic for their age.

17k for a 07 520d sounds like a lot, but no I would not make the change.

You have the best of both worlds at the moment, cheap (ish) and comfortable 520d and something fun for the weekend.

Option 2 of selling them both and buying something else would probably be a better idea, like a newer 911 that works or E92 m3.

its a 2008 registered 57 reg, so LCI model :)

I dont think its worth selling the 997 for 15k less than its worth

Yah I would fix the 911 before selling it. There is no point taking such a big hit on it unless you really cant be bothered.

how much will it cost to fix?

so do four other people I've never heard of on msn :p

OcUK reaches far and wide

You have heard of me though, so i get first dibs, right? :p

In all seriousness, lose the boring diesel, get the M3 convertible, the price sounds OK as does your trade in value. Goes without saying the M3 is a very competent car, and roof down is just what this time of year needs, I'm having a lot of fun with mine.

Too rich for me, you know it needs 10k of work right?

well 12k as quoted by chiswick porsche, got an indy to do it for 2k once i arrange the price for the part from porsche, not sure yet how well (if at all) that will go down with OPC, they might insist I get the work done at OPC.

if i have to do it at porsche then I'll have to find an agreed resale value, due to crappy contract work and too much skiing I just don't have 15k lying around anymore :(

You just caused some manager within Porsche to slam his fist on his desk and scream "DAMN" :p
