E5300 Upgrade Advise

Guys just a quick question from a friend. He wants to know if it's okay to replace his Pentium 4 on a Dell GX 260 with an E5300?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Probably not, Do you know what chipset is the Dell.

As above - there's a strong possibilty that it's a socket 478 the e5300 requires a 775 socket.

Looking at the above it's a 845g chipset which deff will not support the E5300.

New board required.

Download CPU-z and click on the mainboard tab for info on your MB - but it does look like a new MB is required.

Being a Dell low profile system & the age, I would suspect a new case and psu and memory is needed.

Does your friend have a budget in mind.
