E8500 OFICIAL O/C THREAD!

many people use this one : Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

is it not good?

Hiya,

I thought I'd try posting this in here rather than starting another topic.

Never overclocked before, and just started looking at what's involved. I've been looking at CPU-Z, and it's not quite looking right to me?

Should the Core Speed not be around 3100~?

It's probably a daft and obvious question, but I don't know that answer

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi,
is it two cores are 2ghz? or just one?

if it is only one in BIOS disable CE1

and set x9.5

Hi,

i pushed to 4.2ghz mine...(STOCK COOLER)but it was not stable,
dropped to 4ghz was fine, but crysis was crashing after loading any level, same COD4 and other new games, after 15-30min of play "stop responding"

dropped to 3.8ghz almost everything on auto was fine stable, but again only crysis was crashing and prince of persia was loading like i have P3!

Two days ago started to use stock speed 3.16ghz- crysis runs great and all games never crashes...and loading time i cant say that is slower!

probably will do O/C when i have a better cooler, or any other suggestions?

i reduced from 4.2ghz to 4ghz on air, seems like everything is stable untill i start to play high end games: crysis, Cod4, dead space, prince of persia, etc...games or crash, loading more than 20min, etc ...so system i guess not stable

ehis is my bios:

any suggestions to improve performance and get stable system?

i tried different voltages, GTL, etc. but it doesn't help

i would like to get 4ghz stable...or 3.8ghz in case...

How is your over clocking going b-star?

well, i went to 4.2ghz on air... the temperature was a bit high, so i dropped to 3.8ghz for now, till i get a new CPU cooler!

3.8ghz is stable even when everything on AUTO, till i play crysis, prince of persia...

started to play with bios, stable, even crysis runs great on maximum, but prince of persia lagging a bit, so something still not perfetimo:)

i use gurusans BIOS SETTING which he posted, but fsb 400 (for 3.8ghz)

will drop voltages today...will see after

you mean NB VOLTAGE TO 1.45?

which Cpu volt you have?

did you try to push till 4ghz?

rapid64k - THANKS anyway!

Hi GURU...
i pushed to 4.2 ghz befo', but was not stable!

EDIT: i set also memory to auto, it still couldn't boot...i will try again or you can recommend any change with your BIOS setting which you posted?

now i have 3.8ghz stable, but only one game is lagging!

thanks

Hi, well, still can't get stable 4.2 GHZ with my C0 E8500!

will drop Ghz to 3.8ghz!

Can someone post FULL BIOS SETTING FOR STABLE SYSTEM!
as i am really annoyed now:)

Thanks

still can not get stable 4GHZ on Co stepping, using Z600 cooler with fan!

Anyone can recommend changes in my BIOS ?
If it's impossible to get 4Ghz, can drop FSB,,,
