Theres 2 diff E8500's. the older C0 and the newer E0 steppings. A code on the box will tell you. From the looks theres 2 differnt Zip files on the website for your mobo regarding the different stepping. Not sure whats in em but worth a look.

Its the newer one, but my bios is all updated with the latest version 1.4

Cleared to CMOS, and still nothing, also tried removing some ram, but again, still nothing....

it seams that the motherboard does not get on with that CPU, or the cpu could be at fault, have you checked the motherboard website for compatiblity with that cpu ?

Yeah....erm...

Processor Core Name CPU Code CPU No FSB CPU Speed L2 Cache Stepping Wattage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Core 2 Duo Wolfdale SLAPK E8500 333 3.16 6M E0 65

This is from the CPU support for my board....

only thing I can think off is the motherboard is not liking the cpu, I could be wrong.

PS my original thought at first was did u need to plug a power lead into the GPU, like yuo have said the previous cpu works ok with MB so gpu does work np, what brand and power output is your Power supply, that could be the problem, if it is generic try changing to a branded Power supply at least a 700 W one.

The PSU is fine, running a Dual Core before upgrading, also check wattage and it's all within the limit of my PSU..

Any other ideas people!!!
