EA Pulls Another Title From Steam

What happens for those who purchased through Steam? i.e. If they format their computer can they still re-download the game from Steam?

You should be able to get it from Steam still, but if worst comes to worst just right click on the game and "view cd key", then register it in Origin.

Everything I've read in pc games forum about DA 2 is people whining about it.

I played the demo and liked it, found da 1 too slow paced thought da 2 was more like a action rpg and I enjoy those nowadays.

Thanks for making me this thread.

Yeah, but it's more a case of EA forcing Steam to stop selling it. End result is the same, game goes exclusively to Origin.

Except it's not exclusive to Origin, you can still get it retail, or from another DD service.

Six of one and half a dozen of the other it seems, I think the balls in Valve's court for sorting it out though. They do the exact thing with their own titles, it's a bit hypocritical to stop other publishers from doing it.

Valve aren't going to make EA do a u-turn on this, so they're only hurting themselves and customers until they find a solution IMO. :(

I thought the issue was that EA had signed a deal with another distributor for exclusive DLC content and that Steam's T&C's dictate that all content should be made available to Steam users and therefore any deal with another distributor for exclusive content broke these terms which is why Crysis 2 got pulled.

As others have said you can still download the game if you had prevously purchased them its that you can no longer buy it.

I love Steam, HOWEVER, if it is true that Valve do not allow games to allow purchase of DLC exclusively ingame, I think Valve have overstepped the mark.

I dont think this is the case though as there are numerous games on Steam which have DLC exclusively through the GFWL marketplace.

Could this be a kink in the previos impeccable Steam armour?

I thought I read STEAM are kicking EA's games because the DLC can be bought from an ingame store rather that STEAM itself, therefore bypassing giving any cash to STEAM for any DLC sold.

Then again i've not played DA2 on PC so I could be wrong!

Well obviously it's still available at retail, but I didn't realise the other digital retailers still have it - I see BFBC2 is still on Direct 2 Drive. I guess because they don't insist on their own client to play the game.

but in mass effect 2 and dragon age 1 and bioshock 2 you cant buy the dlc through steam, yet they are still up

As said the issue is with EA not selling all DLC on Steam and restricting the sale to their own service, so in effect its EA violating the terms of the agreement they have with Steam and thus Steam removing the offending game, which in effect is a perfectly reasonable choice. Why should Steam sell 'incomplete' packages?

If I'm understanding it right, Valve are in the right, EA's trying to avoid Valve making any money from the DLC sale, and doing it in game?
