Earthquake in the Midlands

(Time in UTC so an hour behind).

This country is such a flop, can't even earthquake right

There's no such thing as an earthquake in the UK. They're called earth tremours instead because they're below the required number on the Ricter Scale that would classify it as an earthquake.

I remember the one in early 1990 when I was in primary school, in Shrewsbury, which was at the tremour's focal point. The school building shook for a few seconds accompanied by a grunting sound. The fire alarm sounded as per standard fire drill and we milled outside to the collection point, but otherwise the building itself was fine.

I remember this one as well - I was working half way between SY and Baschurch with a mate and standing behind his van - He got out and asked if I had shook his van - no - I didn't feel it standing - As we had finished the job we tried to ring control but couldn't get through - Seems stupid people had rung emergency services as if they could do something to nothing.
Got home at Longdon on Tern and checked the house and found cracks between wall and ceiling in places. Old house!

Had what we thought was one in Stoke in the late 80's/early 90's which knocked our school's Rugby posts down and generally made the school shake a little - Turned out it was an old mine shaft collapsing IIRC and as the school was built literally yards from a disused coal mine, that is why it felt so close.

We've had a few 5+ earthquakes in the UK.

Didn't feel anything over in the east mids, but a hell of a lot of jets and helicopters around that time. Nothing but the sounds of afterburners and propellers for a good half hour.
Sounded like the start of WW3.
