earthquakes have nothing to do with climate? You know the UK has it good climate wise when little things like this makes everyone goes a bit hysterical.

when you live in a warzone and your house is shaking from the impact of bombs and cruise missiles and your wondering if your house could be next, its cute to read about people bragging about the size of their earth quakes.
Glad to see that hasnt been forgotten. I slept through this quake yet again
No such thing as earth quakes in the UK. They're known as earth tremors. We had one in 1990 in Shrewsbury when I was back in primary school.
But hey ho, even Wiki thinks the Shrewsbury one was an earth quake.

Remember that the Richter scale is logarithmic on a scale of 10, so that a 6.0 quake is 10 times as bad as 5.0 quake, and a 7.0 quake is 100 times as bad as a 5.0 quake. So the 5.1 that we had Shrewsbury in 1990 was fairly insignificant. I remember the classroom shook for about 10 seconds and maybe a few books came off the shelves. We had to leave the building like it was a fire drill, but school resumed ok on the following day. The local radio was in hysterics, people saying "go make yourself a nice cuppa tea with 3 sugars to calm yourselves down". Nowadays, the DJ would say "go make yourself a nice cuppa tea with 1 sugar but beware of diabetes type II"
