Easiest way to flash your X800GTO2 via dvd \ cd

Seeing as the bios flash is to enable all 16 pipes ,then you don't need to flash do you? ;)
Overclocking is done via ATI tool.

How much are those GTO2 VIVOs going for btw?

Locutus12
Yea I heard about the non-moddable ones after posted that :(
But even with 'only' 12 pipes its still a good card ,btw I've heard that some of the very recent ones are moddable again:)

its the new C3D GTO`s that are not modable, all the GTO2`s have been so far, although with the new ones already having 16 pipes + vivo (what ever that is :p ) i see little point in modding it, just clock her up and off you go :)

the stock cooler is fine for overclocking, its the same cooler as the one on the X850 pro and XT. spending any more money on the card reduces the value for money aspect. youl find 95% of the people with a GTO2 are running stock coolers.

anything between 35oC and 75oC is fine. personally the new GTO2`s are pretty crap, most are X800XL`s in disguise, they no longer seem to come with the R480 GPU and the nice samsung 1.6ns memory (as per the X850XTPE) instead they now seem to come on a blue circuit with a different design, with an r430 core and memory that in a lot of cases has not clocked too well at all. but then the price has come down a lot on them seemingly to reflect that fact.

if your going to buy a GTO2, get one of the second hand ones from the original batch, should be able to buy them in MM for £100 to £120 (they will out perform a 6800GT with no trouble, mine scored 6250 3d05 marks @ 535 / 580 67oC)

the original GTO2 was worth the extra money given the power they gave :) 6250 3d05 marks from mine, thats only a few hundred under a 7800GT. some got over 7000 from theirs, but the newer ones dont come close :(

f3llah1n, get a second hand GTO2, one of the first batch, its cheaper than a new GTO2 and it will clock far better and will probably already be sold pre modified anyway.

link to original iso doesn't seem to be working - any chance someone could rehost it for me as i've only just got round to doing this :)

thx

edit: scratch that found it here : http://fobi29.free.fr/x800gto2/bios/16pipes/X800GTO2MoD.iso

google is my friend :)

 someones stolen my work!! thief theeeeeeeeif! :D

glad someone else hosted it, i have no where else to put it and my old place doesnt seem to work anymore.

well, if its the mod i made for this thread then you should have a menu option... if it doesnt give you 2 options then its not my mod and i cant help you :( i have fixed the download link but be advised ive never known anyone to use it on a HIS card. it was made for the sapphire GTO2`s

Just a question, after you flash this card, what performance do you get? In terms of Nvidia, what version number would it compare with?

a little under a stock speed 7800 GT

7800GT = around 7K 3D05 marks
X800GTO2 = around 6.5K 3D05 marks

Its just that I have got a Gainward (Golden Sample) 6800GT @ Ultra, and am looking for a better card than this, and if there is a cheap solution im all ears :D

oooo i see :) how much ram and what 3d mark scores do you get ?

danceMB said:
Its got 256mb ram, as for the benches I did a re-format last weekend so will need to bench it again and see what scores I get as I havnt done a test for a while now but will tonight.

well i would have thought the clocked 6800GT would pull pretty much what an X850 could pull, i would suggest that the only real alternative is an X1800 XT 256mb, you should hit 9.5 3D05 marks with that beastie.

I have a Powercolor x800GTO, 256mb, AGP. Could I flash this card? and if so what differance would it make.
Cheers, Stephen.

some have flashed GTO`s with success, if it worked youd have a full 16 pipes at your disposal which would give you a good performance boost, if it didnt then you would need to flash back to your original bios.

just bare in mind that i built and tested this for and on the Sapphire GTO2 only and as a result i wont speculate on whether or not it will work. but if you try it i wish you luck :) just have a pci graphics card handy in case you need to flash the bios back.

is this the driver i need to make my x800gto go like an x850? sorry if im being stupid

it was built to open a 12 pixel pipe GTO2 to 16 pipes, people would then overclock the GTO2 to X850XTPE speeds. many have had success with the GTO as well.

Hi locutus,
BTW, sterling work on this. That's some amount of work to be putting in on this.
My problem (if it is a problem) is that my GTO2 came with 16 pipes unlocked from Dabs.com & I did as instructed - burned ISO to CD, booted, flashed, no problem - however, my GOT2 is still showing as being an X800 GTO2 not an X850 PE (clocks remain as they were).
Have I done something wrong or have Sapphire put some kind of limiter on the GPU's? It's only about 5 weeks old.

if its a modern GTO2 then its possible it has an R430 core and not an R480 (usually indicated by the GTO2 being a blue circuit instead of the original red circuit the R480 cores came on). as for the clocks, the flash doesnt increase your clock speed, you have to do that yourself :) the flash was intended simply to open up the original batch of GTO2`s from 12 pipes to 16 pipes :) any clocking is done after by yourself as its safer that way, not all GTO2`s could do X850XTPE speeds but most will hit X850XT speeds at least.

Thanks for replying.
The circuit board is one of the red ones & it's showing as an R480 (using Everest utils).
I can up the speeds using the Trixx clocking util that came bundled with the GPU & currently I'm running:
Memory: 570
Core: 490
Maybe I'm being greedy or could it be Trixx that sucks? I've never read any good/bad opinions on it TBH.

trixx sucks. ATI tool my friend.

Just uninstalled it :)
Am I right in thinking that the Sapphire X800 GTO2 is flashable to X800 PE specs (is this what your modded BIOS does?).
When I did the BIOS flash the other night, ATT bench gave the following results:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g188/Eggenberg4Ever/ATTBenchmarkResults.jpg

But any benches done since then have been between the unmodded X800 Pro & the PE marks.
Currently running at Core 500 Mem 570 but if there's higher speeds possible then obviously I want to get them unlocked.

i dont know anything about ATT bench marks, most common and best one to use is 3D mark 05, you can get a free copy from www.futuremark.com i believe. should score around the 6000 mark when clocked which is fine.

my bios was designed only to unlock the 12 pipe GTO`s to 16 pipes. any clocking in my opinion should always be done after as you simply dont know what the tollerence of your card will be, thus flashing it to a bios with higher clocks built in could kill your card if it cant take those pre set clocks.
