Got to the stage now where repeated sodium hydroxide flushes have failed. Don't want to have to do anything that involves physical contact with aforementioned toilet or anything else involving a remote chance of microbial contamination, any solutions ocuk?

I usually get a big bucket of warm water and chuck it down fast, sorted it for me in the past. Learn to poo smaller or don't use half a roll of paper.

Boiling water from a kettle, poured at a height, so that the water has some force behind it as it impacts the toilet bowl.

Perhaps not the safest method but has worked for me a few times previously.

Edit: Or as Suarez7 says, a bucket of hot water, even better! :)

boiling watter works best

Just don't leave it sitting in your toilet to long before you flush in case it causes the pipe and seal to expand from the heat and start leaking.

Man up and get your arm down there. Extra man points if you manage to get up to your shoulder.

Alternatively find an old wire coat-hanger and unbend it so you are just left with the hook on one end. Use this to go fishing for your monster log and break up the blockage.

In future it may be advisable to poo in batches or at least courtesy flush halfway through.

Easily the best option. Just get a rubber glove on if you're squeamish.

You can get a spring wire rodding tool from a DIY place (a coat hanger is a cheap alternative)
If that meets no resistance then it's further down the soil pipe, follow it down until you find the rodding cover, unscrew that and have a poke about. Flush again to see if it's backing up in that area or further down.
Next step is the outside manhole cover, open it and check the water flow after flushing.

Usually a poke with a stick will undo most blockages, it's just finding the right place first.

Unless you have a skin lesion then you won't catch anything from a toilet.

Fill it to the brim with Diet Coke, sit on there to make a seal then drop a packet of Mentos in the gap by your pee-pee down there.

This is true. There is probably more bacteria on your kitchen work surfaces than in your bog.

This also works for constipation although it does not sound as if the OP suffers in this regard. ;)

you need to flush the toilet, atleast 5 times with washing up liquid in to soften up the toilet paper..

if that doesnt work you need to open up the manhole cover with a couple of spoons and send th cat up the pipe with a camera.. once youve found the blockage get a bit of 4x4 wood and bend it round the bend to unblock it with a bit cable wrapped round the end..

pull it out and you'll find its unblocked..

I generally just leave it for the next person to deal with. At the end of the day, I've already used it and won't need to again for a while. So the next person either deals with it or ***** themselves.
