Easyriders Car PC Project

Mate if you dont want comments, then dont post on public forum, if you want people to kiss you behind with every post go and post on a CARPC forum.

People have the right to comment good or bad, i would say only one real post has been out of line, and tbh some of your responses havent exactly been on the button either.

good job you are not discussing graphics cards with him... ;)

I might make myself a Car PC soon based on parts I have, and I will probably go down the same route. I don't want to change my OEM headunit (which I did think about but there is little point as its good enough), so what there may be a wire hanging out, much better than changing the plastics.

I already have a XDA and my iPod hanging off cradles which does not bother me one bit, for one, they are at a far better viewing point and I dont need to look down...

I would not even think about changing dash etc on a brand new car, maybe if my car was older i'd consider chopping the dash, but I would not on my new Fiesta and definately not if I had a new BMW.

Why are you so picky about other peoples words? It doesn't make you a big man you know, quite the opposite.

For all you know he might hacksaw in his components!

Chopping the dash? Hardly, you mean 'installing a fascia adaptor'.

"Doing it properly" would involve what, putting a fascia adater in, potentially having to drill a hole or 2 to get the wiring through, potentially scratching your dash with a bit of plastic that never looks flushed in and probably a different texture.

Plus it sits a bit low doesn't it? Surely dangerous?

You don't need to drill a hole, it's like most other ICE installs in that the cabling can run up the centre console. It would sit no lower than the factory navigation system.

Have you considered an ibus adapter like the resler one easyrider? It will allow you to use the multifunction steering wheel controls to control the PC without having to take your hand off the wheel. Quite a lot of people use these on BMW CarPCs. You can also do a few other cool things like control pretty much every single electrical component in the car, so for example you could have a button on the screen for any audio function, or even something like the windscreen wipers. You can also read various values from the car like time, speed, miles etc.

Just something else to add into the mix for your future possible upgrades to the system.
