Well said. moreover u will encounter high ping problems...it depends on how long the scratches are......my router is hidden under my desk and havent seen it like 2years...why worry for some scratches dude?

eitherway if your reflashing it to the default manufacturers firmware it doesnt really matter.

if it was an item of high value or one that needed to be in excellent cosmetic condition then I would say send it back
its only a router and if it works fine then its not worth the hassle of returning it because of slight cosmetic damage

Although i would have preferred a cosmetically perfect router for the price that i paid, the seller has admitted he must have made an honest mistake and has agreed to a partial refund of £7.00 if i keep this one.

No. The seller received it as a replacement from Sky. He didn't check the condition of the router before sending it out and it turned out it was a used reconditioned router rather than a new one.

It was listed as New and only opened to check contents.

Maybe I'm too cynical but to me this means used but they've kept the box in case they want to sell it.

The top of the router is white and to see the scratches clearly you have to look at it a little closer than would be needed for quickly glancing to check the contents of the box.
