Hello.
I have sold a PS4 on ebay and the buyer received the item today. I sent it on tracked and signature required. It was signed for at 12.20

At 18:05 he sent me a message 'Thanks, I ve received it :)'
At 19:44 'Hi, the ps4 is not turning on at all, the power is turning on but then switching back off. It has a slight mark on the left side, has it been bumped?'

The PS4 was fully functional and I made sure I wrapped it up properly. So I am not sure why he was having that problem.

At 19:46 'I can send a video of the problem and pictures of the bump?'

So I said sure and just asked to try putting in power lead on its own or different orientation or try different socket as I could not really believe it.

I then get an email
'New Significantly Not as Described Dispute'
'persons' name has opened a dispute indicating that the item they received did not match the original
description.

Then i get another message at 20:19
'Hi,
My boyfriend has tried numerous different things to get it working, the power turns on but that goes straight back off'

So what should I do now?
What could I do?
The buyers feedback is 100% so I am not sure what has happen
Thanks.

You accept the return. You check to see if it is the item you sent and is in the condition you sent it in. Even if it is not you will be forced to refund the buyer anyway.

You can then take them to court if you wish.

I always take a picture of the serial number before I send electronic items on ebay with username and postage details and video me boxing / wrapping the item, the amount of times people have tried to send me a duff item back with different serial number is at least 6 now

Hope you recorded the serial numbers on the ps4 in question. Secondly chose properly insured carriage.

Main point though, E-bay.......... are there not enough cases of people being scammed being mentioned on here to put you off?

This. Essential if selling electrical items on Ebay.

Too easy for buyer to have something that is broken and then buy the matching thing from ebay and send their broken one back.

Even the videoing is essential as I have seen people claim they have just received a brick before now.

Did'nt really check the serial number? IS the the cuh xxxx part? I have that
Also, do I tell him to send it tracked and signature required?
Do I refund once I have item?

+1

I suspect you'll be receiving their faulty item and they are enjoying yours!

I hope you recorded the serial numbers.

I use eBay a lot for buying cheap stuff, I wouldn't sell anything of significant value there though, it's a sea of scammers.

Prepare to be the owner of a knackered PS4 that may, or may not, be the one you sold and to also be a few hundred quid out of pocket.

eBay is little more than a scammer's paradise.

You never know, it may have got damaged in transit, it happens.

Did you accept returns in the listing? If so, ask for it back. Once it's back and confirmed yours, refund the money. If it's faulty, claim on the courier insurance.
