Ebay issues - Need some advice

I don't understand why you would send a £200 item insured for only ~£46, Special Delivery could have avoided all of this.

Royal Mail probably have a division that check all uninsured items sent by mugs and intentionally 'lose' the expensive ones, £154 profit in this case!

oh thats why my post man is always trying to sell me iphones at knock down prices!

!doh!

At least you're not entirely screwed as you still have the money. The worst case scenario is you lose your PayPal account. Just make another... ;)

Nah, pretty sure the OP loses the money from the -£200 balance. I've had a couple of charge-backs made against me and they got the money from me both times even after I cashed out. Into my bank, out of my bank again.

I've already taken the money out of the bank, and I'm fairly sure they can't touch my bank balance without my consent as I don't have any standing order or direct debit with them. The agreement is purely between ebay and paypal, and in the agreement, I only see mention of Paypal balance, but I could be wrong.

As for getting the IMEI blocked, I will leave it a week or so and see if I can resolve it before doing that.

iphone...recorded? REALLY?!?!

Your own fault mate, if RM have lost it you can claim a max of £40ish, if the guy has received it without signing, you can calim a max of £40ish.

Lesson learned, use correct delivery/insurance.

IMEI and block it tbh

As a precaution remove any bank accounts/cards linked to your PayPal account. Remove anything that they can use.

The dispute is closed, but you can't change any info with a negative Paypal balance. Not even the address.

Um... chase it with RM if you have the tracking details and the ball is in their court, don't bother blocking the IMEI unless they come back saying they can't find it!!! as its quite likely they won't find it tho your probably going to be somewhat out of pocket under the circumstances.

You said you didn't have any direct debit agreements with them so I'm not sure if they can take any money from you bank account. Perhaps someone with more legal knowledge will be able to provide an answer to whether or not they can find some way to get the money from your bank.

Normally though, they just send letters demanding the money which can easily be ignored.

At which point you start getting baliffs after you.

In the case of PayPal they don't usually follow through and it will be more costly for them to take court action. In any case the OP has proof of postage of the item so it's through PayPal's own stupidity they refunded the buyer even though the item was not returned to him (yet).

If it does get to the point of them harrasing you with letters etc. tell them you refuse to pay and that they can take you to court. I doubt they would and even if they did I don't see how you'd be in the wrong?

Paypal's direct debit system only became compulsory middle of last year. They still succeeded in a charge-back against me in the pre-dd days when I used to pay my eBay costs manually.
