Ebay issues

Hi All,

Sorry for another Ebay thread but hopefully you can offer some advice as not too sure what to do next.

I sold some tickets for London Eve Fireworks as had changed our plans. There were bought and I posted them out Royal Mail Special Delivery 1pm service to be delivered on Tuesday 22nd. The tickets have been delivered for on 22nd but the signature is not yet available. The buyer claims they have not received them though. I have advised them to give it 3 working days (as suggested by Royal Mail) and then phone his sorting office tomorrow but they keep messaging me saying they are getting worried etc.

The person that bought them may well be being genuine but they had 0 feedback and had a bad feeling from the outset.

What do I do next and what are my options.

It's not up to the buyer to chase the postal service - that's your responsibility.

I suggest you call Royal Mail and tell them the buyer says the item hasn't been recd and see what they say - it might be a case of refunding the buyer then claiming of the postal insurance.

The buyer can open a dispute on ebay if they say they haven't received them - you've got a couple of weeks to investigate until a refund must be issued.
 
Priorty for you is to get the pod for signature and then provide this to ebay/paypal when the dispute comes in. Just tell the buyer that they will have to wait and if not happy to put in a claim.
 
Thanks all it is very strange the signature has not shown up but they have been delivered. I have already asked them to check with neighbours. I have advised them I will phone the customer services tomorrow to see what they say.

The buyer is now saying they are away till the 31st so want a refund. I know they may very well be genuine and I hope this is the case but can’t help feeling they trying a fast one.
 
is their address the same on both the ebay and paypal emails that you received?
ive seen people have different addresses for both where they failed to update their ebay details, always send to the address listed with paypal

It's strange that you can't see the signature though it might just be temporary. I wouldn't worry too much about being scammed as you sent it SD. The receipt you would have received from the post office should have the house number and postcode on as proof of address and you'll have cover up to £250. I would not refund the buyer until you have had chance to contact Royal Mail though about the missing signature.

Edit: PayPal doesn't even require a signature for seller protection. As long as the online tracking shows the parcel as delivered then you'll win any item not received claim they make.

Thanks all seems I will be ok whether or not I get compensation from Royal Mail. In my experience the signature shows up almost immediately so it is strange. Will see what they say tomorrow.
 
1 possible reason why the sig is not showing as yet on track and trace -

Given the busy period, many extra staff will be working in various areas and RM being RM they do not have enough PDA's to go around. Therefore it is possible, in fact I would say probable that the person delivering the item did not have a PDA which can upload a signature in real time, and instead had the old fashioned paper form, whereby the signature needs to be uploaded at a later time in person. In this scenario, any Special Delivery that was not delivered needs to be reported prior to 1pm so that the system can be updated. If no report is forthcoming for said item, then it is assumed as delivered and the system is updated to show as such, obviously with the signature upload to follow.

Again, given how busy a period this is, perhaps the staff responsible for doing the uploading was given other tasks to do, and as RM delivery offices have been closed from 24th-29th, the signature is still awaiting processing.

I have had items sent to me by SD that were delivered to neighbors so it can happen doesn't mean it should but it can.

£500 for items sent by SD more if you buy the extra insurance
 
If it wasn't delivered when it should have been you can put in a claim with RM and get your postage back. I had a item delivered 24 hours later than it should have arrived earlier in the year, put in a claim and got a cheque through the post for the full amount a couple of weeks later.
