So I sell mobo on ebay. It was in fully working order. Buyer comes back and says it does not work and proceeds to send images of blown cap on the daughter board. I told him I won't be accepting returns as item was fully working.

Next thing I get options how to respond to the sellers request.

Accept the return
You pay for postage and can send our return label or your own. Wait to get the item back before you refund the buyer.

Refund the buyer
You can fully refund the buyer to close this request. The buyer keeps the item.

Offer a partial refund

You have one chance to offer an amount. The buyer keeps the item.

Send a message
You can reply to the buyer.

Where is the option to tell them to **** off?

And PP immediately puts a hold on the item sale amount in PP.

I'm done with these *****, seller is screwed all ways.

Tell him you will accept the return.

Also tell him this "once i have received the item i will check the security measures i put on the item to ensure it is the same item i sent, all the info on the security has been documented by video and photo, once all these check out i will issue the refund,if the item is not the item i sent i will contact the police"

Should I not just let it escalate to an ebay decision? Told them I will close my account if they rule against me and they have made a lot of money off me the past year.

Yeah I got image of serial number. Thing is the mobo was an vii impact and the components he is saying are blown are on a daughter board that can easily be swapped out for a faulty one.

so try exactly this and then see what he says

I never had any real issues with eBay until recently when I was trying to sell my daughters rarely used 3DS, 3 sales and all 3 within 24 hours (one within 2 minutes) of the end of the auction said they won but wont be purchasing the item, as a seller you have no power on eBay anymore, my option was to cancel and say I cant meet the order or say they requested it, no option anywhere to complain about wasted time or non paying bidder.

unfortunately eBay always sides with the buyer so even if you get a different item back or even an empty box as long as they have a reference to say they have posted the item eBay don't care about the people who actually get charged the fees.

as suggested tell him all your items are marked with one of These and if he changes his mind you know what he was trying

Hmm tough one but I would suggest you just accept the return. It is possible after all the board did blow a cap as was already on its way out. If you don't have any measures in place to prove otherwise your essentially just a accusing the buyer of lying with no evidence.

I always use anti tamper stickers on any electronics and sub parts and photograph them and include in listing. I sold a humax pvr and buyer claimed it was faulty and sent it back. The anti tamper seal was broken and eBay sided with me.

fairlysuretheanswerisno is probably on the right track on what's within your right at the moment, perhaps could weed out a potential chancer or a legitimate return.

I will just place this here :

eBay won't change until they get rid of the deadwood running it.

A annoyance I have noticed is if somebody returns something not as new (ie very used) you can not do a partial refund. eBay will turn around and state there is nothing they can do because they have not seen the state of the item you sent out originally. Yet they can give refunds when customers complain the item is different, despite not seeing he item that was sent out.

Ask the buyer to send you a picture of the serial number of the dodgy board, when they do, tell ebay it doesnt match the serial of the one sold?

Do they not look at feedback when a case escalates. Scammer joined 2008 11 FB nothing sold, me nearly 400 FB with fees going to ebay totalling over £400 over the past six months.

No longer use ebay for anything like this anymore, I end up using computer parts else where when upgrading or keep as spares as this is not worth the hassle.

hope it goes in your favour

Basically, there's absolutely nothing that you can do. Give up your wild ambitions, and sink into the inescapable reality of ebay trading.

An item will be returned. It will probably be the one the buyer was replacing. Short of going to visit the buyer in person there's nothing to be done.

I'd accept the return, close all the accounts down (like I did a few months ago) and just forget using them, literally two of the worst big companies around.

With your post count I'm surprised you didn't put it on the mm
