ok, so, i bid for and won an auction for the Alien Quadrilogy just a few days ago and got the items today but it was not the 9 dvd set in the auction, it was the 4 individual dvd movies - not happy.
I've emailed the seller to ask for a refund but i'm wondering if anyone has experience with this sort of thing.
Does he (or will he) have to refund the postage i paid as well?
I can't start a dispute until 10 days after the auction (next week) so i'm wondering how the process works?

hopefully it will all be sorted out quickly - i'm just annoyed as i've never had to do this sort of thing before.

thats what the auction should have been for - but its not that actual auction of course, i've already won and recieved my (wrong) items.

Looking at the auction, there does appear to be nine discs listed - so I'd expect to get nine discs through the post.

To speed up the dispute, just login into Paypal > Resolution Centre > Open a Dispute. Choose the transaction, and job's a good 'un.

The seller, crazy_dazy07, assumes full responsibility for the content of this listing and the item offered.

As per the bottom of the listing. Tell him you're not happy and want a refund - his feedback is ok so he'll probably sort it and re-list.

It clearly says 9 DVD box set

you want your money and postatge back plus any costs involved in returning them

cheers - i've emailed him and i'll ask him for the postage back as well when he replys.

i'm sure i'll get it sorted, but its just a hassle - i wish people would be more careful :(

ironically, i've just fouind it is really cheap from the hmv website, especially as you can get a £3 voucher by signing up - so it will end up cheaper than any of those ebay auctions :p

Description
This nine DVD boxset contains all 4 films in the ALIEN saga: ALIEN, ALIENS, ALIEN 3 and ALIEN RESURRECTION along with just about every extra any fan of the ALIEN series could ever want;

Right, according to the EAN no. (as per the description in the item listing of the auction you won), it should have been the 9 disc edition:

http://www.upcdatabase.com/item.asp?upc=5039036014823

So yes, well within your right to complain and ask for a refund.

thats useful thanks - i just got an email of him basically saying 'so you didn't get the box but it is a quadrilogy cos its 4 films, whats the problem?' sort of thing, so i've emailed back with this and other info - like the auction says NINE dvd's in a box set

He appears to have excellent feedback so I reckon it was just an honest mistake. He either has a number of different boxsets [9 and 4 disc versions] and made a mistake, or he hasn't realised he's got a 4 disc.

Either way I imagine it will be soon sorted. I've had a few wrong items sent or items not quite as described. Apart from one incident I've managed to get my money back - although not always had my full postage back.

It is a hassle but at least you aint dealing with someone who has no feedback and suddenly is no longer an ebay member the day after :p

EDIT: Damn, should have refreshed :p Seems like he doesn't have a clue about what hes selling.

Yate what's his address I can go knock the door down :)

Just ask for a refund, did you pay by paypal?

See what he says first, if he doesn't refund there are things you can do, if you used paypal just put a claim in.

yeah i paid by paypal so it won't be a problem if he decides to arse me about.

he seems to be claiming that he inputed the bar code (or something) and that ebay handled the layout and that it wasn't his fault the description was wrong, and then asked me if i thought ebay would pay him his fee's back etc - i said he should contact them but i still want my money back but he then asked me if i could wait until he has contacted ebay - i agreed - i'll give him a week - i can't actually put a claim against him until the 24th anyway (has to be 10 days after the auction).

its strange though - his emails are pretty poor english and he sounds like a kid, but there are some sophisticated items in his shop.

i haven't made a claim through paypal before but i hear that they are pretty good.
