eBay Scammer is idiot? Help with moral dilemma

D

It will be good for him to learn from his mistake and seen as he tried to scam you/was dishonest, i wouldn't feel bad about it.

I sold an xbox dvd drive one on ebay and forgot it had the latest call of duty game in which was very ne and around £40 still, the guy never mentioned it and i just forgot about it anyway. do the right thing and keep it :P

Maybe post the videos on youtube as proof it was working fine :D

and then the usual GD reply..............

poop through his letterbox as you have his address!

Looks like the eBay idiot might have the last laugh. I'm just testing the card, having had a corrupt video file on it and looks like it's damaged or fake. After 3.8GB it's throwing up errors...

Another eBay idiot, I've had a few experiences of that recently, the first one a French idiot, I sent an AV processor to (in France) he claimed wasn't working, he sent it back after I offered a refund only to find it was working fine. A month down the line he asked for me to mail him a receipt as his accountant was asking about the transactions, to which I referred him to PayPal and eBay to get it himself! I sold another AV amp on there and after a couple of days of the buyer not responding I had the message saying he accidentally bid on it! How do you accidentally bid on something?! </rant>

So based on my experiences keep the memory card, whilst it might not fully work don't let him know about it, just his loss, tough luck for lying. Sell the dash cam at the inflated price to cover your costs. Now for the GD reply, send him poo in the post so I'd does eventually make it to and through his letterbox!

This is one of those where what you have to gain isn't a great deal so just keep the card, sell the camera on and don't bother wasting your time with the idiot. I'd keep the evidence though, if he ever did whinge about the SD card you can politely inform him you kept it to cover postage seeing as he'd lied. Shame the SD card seems to be a fake though :(

You're too nice, I personally wouldn't of offered a refund after a month. I echo the other guys who've voted option D, shame it's a fake.

Like you, I've never really had any issues with Ebay. Only one issue that I can think of over my 200 transaction and that was with a trade seller.

I don't think I would have a choice. With eBay involved, they would just give it to him anyway. The money had even already gone from Paypal and I was owing them, so they bounced about the only annual subscription I have already.

Possibly I could have argued it was simply too late, but I think eBay would still side with the buyer.

I don't know the 'ins and outs' of eBay's T+Cs, but I'm very suprised to hear that eBay would side with the buyer a month after purchase...

I guess you've avoided the hassle/time of arguing about it anyway. :)

If you are paid via PayPal the buyer can raise a dispute within 6 months and they will side with the buyer no matter what essentially, even if you sell as no returns.
