sold a router, it arrived didn't work.

Fine, i have no problem with that it probably got damaged in transit. The guy said in the first email that he's just bought a new one instead, but is now saying he's just lost his job and can't afford to send me the router back.

3 negative comments have been left on his feedback in the last 2 weeks.

I've sent him this:

Sorry, but i must have the router back to send you a refund. I am in no rush and quite happy to wait a few days, but in the light of recent negative comments involving your transactions i must insist that it is returned first.

The alternative is for you to lodge a complaint with the post office and claim the money back from them.

Am i being reasonable here?

I even sent him the think before he paid to ensure he had it for christmas!

Hope he didn't pay by Paypal - they ALWAYS side with the buyer.

Surely you'd have to lodge the complaint as you sent the item?

Yup, it all sounds reasonable but it has to be you that lodges the complaint with RM, and you'll have to prove it was suitably packaged and the damage was caused by them.
