Anyone have any thoughts on these pads?

Just picked up a brake setup with these included... they wouldn't be my choice, but I'm prepared to give them a go. I'm pretty sure they are the ceramic compound - i hear these can chew up the discs quite badly?

Will be for fast road/ light track use.

Cheers :)

Didn't think they were very well suited for road use as they take some time to heat up and get grippy.

That's more of a problem with yellows AFAIK. Once they're warmed up though, they're immense.

I did have some reds a while back, but I honestly can't remember them at all.

Have these on the front of the RX8, not bad and low brake dust but as said they need a little warming up for full effect, using them with standard discs and no major wear so far.

I have these on my integra, I can't really comment on how good they are compared to other brake pads, since they came with the car, but I've never had a problem with them, they do work very well.

I'm on my second set atm, fitted new discs with the first set, 30k later and the discs haven't been chewed up.

They have 0 bite from cold, which can be a problem particually when you need to stop a large car like mine, it feels like someone has put grease on the discs, they have this same issue when its very wet, problems are compounded in cold weather.

I'm going to move to some better pads and some grooved discs, was thinking Yellowstuffs tbh, they have a higher friction coeficent and the grooves in the discs will sort the initial bite problem out, it not i'm going to stick some Pagid blues on.

Had some on an S13 a few years ago. As mentioned, needed a good dab to wake them up in the morning. Once fully warmed they were awesome and I never suffered from brake fade (though never took it on a track).

thats what i found the biggest different between red and yellow was, the initial bite when cold. i left the m25 on my way back from cheshire at 1am the other night, going "quite" fast, got to the slip road and then remembered "hmmm cold pads" but it wasnt that much of a problem

I had red stuffs on my RS4 when i got it and the brakes (even though they're uprated) didn't bite well. Took them all off to find the discs knackered by the pads with score marks all over the discs (£500 a set).

Replaced discs and pads for standard items and the braking is much better. But then that's just my experience.

I have used them on my DH bike as well and can't say i'm a massive fan there. The reds wear too quick and the greens don't bite hard enough. I did a set of reds in 1/2 a day in France :S

not like this they won't - pads should give an even wear across the disc.

Mine had 3 or 4 seperate ridges running across the disc.

I ate through a set in one day. They were epic for the duration, but they were gone in one day.

Granted, said one-day was round Donington

I have them on the zed all round with ultimax grooved discs, work a treat when warm. I find it takes a few decent applications to get them up to scratch, but they don't spread too much dust and have good stopping power for the money.

Yellows are better from cold than reds. Wierd i know

I can echo the other comments by saying my red stuff are fundamentally amazing pads, especially when on track. Zero fade after a good thrashing around Brands in hot weather, very impressed. I haven't found the initial bite to be too bad in my experience. Yes it's not as good, and perhaps stock pads are better but it's only for about 2 minutes and it's not like you handbrake turn out of the driveway and scream around the housing estate!

Correct.
I'm using a set of yellows at the moment and they require no warming up whatsoever. Good solid bite from stone cold and even better when warmed up. They're also no noisier than OEM pads, although they can be bit on the dusty side.
Other than the dust side, there are no negative points against them IMHO.

I have had 3 sets of redstuffs, but fancied trying the yellows on the latest set. They are much better from cold and also the disks last much longer (and look better !)

Reds made the disks look like they had been turned on a lathe by a blind man.

I've read that they changed the compounds of their pads, so the yellows of old are something I can't really comment on.
The set I have no were only bought a few months back and I can't fault them.
