Edge of Tomorrow

Oblivion was excellent. And tho Cruise, like Smith, are clearly two Thetans short of a Xenu, I quite like most of their films ;)
 
Cannot wait for this, reviews on RT so far 92 percent. They're calling it the best action movie of the Summer, best blockbuster of the year too :D
 
reviews do look very positive..most seem to be sticking to the them of its just a damn good action movie thats fun...and funny with it
 
There's just something about Cruise which really puts me off this. I know that if it was almost any other actor I'd want to see it so much.
 
Just got back. It is a decent movie but not without it's flaws.

It's pacing is great, took a leaf out of Groundhog Day for sure and once you got the idea of the day repeating itself it jumps ahead quite quickly. Had me laughing a few times. Tom Cruise does a "oh I don't want to go to war chicken quite well actually ! Which makes it even more strange when he puts on that robot armour which makes him look silly, especially when in a helmet.

I adore Emily Blunt, she is great in this and I buy her portraying that character but there is something that isn't quite right, i still feel like she should be in a dress or something with a Prada bag.

The background cast is stereotypical and but they do their part and it's fine.

Overall though, brain at the door, action movie, I really liked it. Not looked at my watch once, 2 hours absolutely flew by. I think I might watch it again when it comes out on Bluray.

he died so he inherited the turn back time power. The question is why it turn back to the helicopter and not when in the barracks. Is it only to he point when he wakes up?

And when it gets turned back, why would the timeline changed before the turning point where the omega was killed...
 
Like Oblivion a great Sci-if movie. Cruise and Blunt were great, really liked Robin Hood as well.

Best of the blockbusters thus far this year.
 
Watched it last night and overall a decent sci-fi action flick with bit of comedy thrown in. This movie was lot better then Oblivion.

The 3D was atrocious, and really there was no need.

I got that he inherited the power - which was obviously going to bring them both back at the end - its just that when he wakes the omega was killed the day before when it should have been the next day. It seems the director has no good explanation either from what I've read.
 
Off to watch this tomorrow after a meal. In 3d which I'd rather not bother with.
 
We enjoyed it very much, though it felt like the author of the source material actually had an idea for a game, but wrote a novel instead.
 
so 3D not worth bothering with? Can you elaborate on that as I'm going to see it but don't know whether to sit there with glasses over my glasses now ! :p
 
3D is not needed in this, in fact I think it makes it worse. See 2D if you can, 3D was distracting and because the enemy moves really fast, it's almost like the 3D can't keep up and end up a blur of mess.

The film itself is great, I would watch it again definitely.
