Been looking to replace a bose portable speaker ive been using as an alternative to my tv speakers connected to my pc. Was looking at the edifier r980t https://www.overclockers.co.uk/edifier-studio-r980t-2.0-speakers-24w-sp-021-er.html or possibly a 2nd hand bose solo soundbar. Anyone have any experience with edifiers or possibly any other suggestions around this price point?

Will mainly be used to watch movies/tv and occasional music.

I've always been very pleased with my Edifier speakers too - they seem to have something decent for a range of budgets until you get into the audiophile territory

I've had a bunch of their higher end headphones and speakers and indeed they are excellent quality and sound quality. For the money can't go wrong really. There is better, but you pay more.

I'm gonna bump this thread a bit,

Wife isn't happy with my Xmas list as it's basically clothes, and she says it's boring,

I could do with some pc speakers, having looked about edifier do seem good price/performance ratio.

But there seems to be a lot all at similar prices.. budget is £100-120, think that's plenty for a computer speaker, it's not meant to be reference quality sound, I plan on running them from the audio out on my monitor to limit cables

Thought I'd give a slight update, got the r1280dbs in the end.

Set them up last night, got some cable tidying to do, but I'm very impressed with them, sound very similar to Sonos 1 speakers, but clearer, and maybe slightly less bass, but speakers need running in a bit tbh.

For what they cost they are great, I went for the s model in the end incase I want a subwoofer later on, though tbh they sound what I'm after without the sub.

I like having the ability to use Bluetooth and the miriad of Connection options over the Sonos.

Thanks all for the help

I just got the M60 so figured this might be a thread to share thoughts, they are £160 but given the size, they IMO out-power many speakers that are even bigger than them. I've had Edifier's other compact speakers before and these are the smallest, barely bigger than my phone's face yet the sound is so big. If desk space is an issue then I can 100% recommend these to anyone who likes a wide soundstage with no muddying of highs, mids or lows whatever is being played.

Just ordered the same ones, arrive tomorrow hopefully. I was using a LG 42" C3 as my monitor but since swapped over to the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM which doesnt have speakers so I needed something. These seem to get good reviews, hope they are decent!

I bought my Edifiers from home, that i bought years before, into work to listen to music during covid and they are still here being used every day and still sound great... Must get a new set of white ones for the office at home.

They need running in so keep that in mind, they take a few listens and you can hear them get better as you listen , also need to get the placement just right otherwise lose the bass a bit. But for the money they are decent value.

I'm looking at getting a sub for mine but the sub costs more than the speakers so I've parked that idea for now

Do you have to match the brand? Or use any make?

IE what about bk xls 400
