Edinburgh Games Workshop

Nothing wrong with being a geek. I didn't know reading history on something was geeky either. :) I learn something new everyday.

Anything from Games Workshop, and all MMORPGs, are more nerdy than geeky in my book, but there we go :p

That's your opinion. :) Many will disagree, I for one don't care. I play what I enjoy it shouldn't get me labelled though. Hey that's modern society for you though.

There's a difference?!

The stereotype goes that geek have a somewhat 'antisocial' passion but they work it into their fairly normal lives.

A nerd has an 'antisocial' passion but allows it to rule (at or some level affect) the rest of his life.

No. To say all video games are represented by MMORPGs would be a bit silly. To say GW is represented by Warhammer... isn't.

Dawn of War, that geeky game one of the best computer games out there.

what if i argue that Games workshop is represented by DOW, does that make video games just a geeky as tabletop games?

Who cares if other poeple percieve the game to be geeky, i certaintly dont.

Ugh, where are these arguments coming from :p

A comment was made that video game players calling GW sad was 'a pot calling a kettle black'. I don't thats quite fair. It would be more like Navy Blue taking the pee out of Black for being a dark colour ;)

Brrrrrr games workshop :p

Remember going in there a while back and being taugh how to play then got asked to leave when pushed the horsy men and lizard men against each other, made battle noises, then pushed them all over to create a massacre :D

I once went to a Games Workshop with a mate because he wanted to go see it as they were having a battle or something.

I almost died that day.

Is that a very tact pun or the fact you just about died of boredom?

I will give you that, standing in the shop watching people paint and that is boring. But if you're at home with 3 or 4 friends setting up a field then blah blah whilst having some good tunes on, beer it's not as bad as all that.

We he thought he'd be able to sway me to liking the game (is it even a game??) after I saw the intricate models and detailing.

Not my idea of a fund day out :p

Used to play when I was 13-15... I think you can stay relatively normal if you stop then. Not insulting anyone here or 40k players as a whole, and I'm sure there are many 'normal' older players, but from my experience anyone I met who was 18+ and still playing had issues. Plus the guys that run the shops are always weird, I'm surprised my parents let me go there on my own.

It's a bit like Quasar.. past a certain age you just have to move on to Paintballing.

It is a game, and you don't have to spend your day at the shop?. It's just the serious(ly deluded) people that hang around there. I've grown out of it, wayyy out of it. I was thinking of going for it again, there is good online sites thats like 25% cheaper than retail in the shop. But money restricts.

My friend at home still plays, he is absolutely amazing at painting the models so has kept it up while most of us grew out of it. Sometimes when I'm home from uni we all get together and have a game of 40k on the scenery he's made and it is good fun!
